Sprinkler head upgrade - worthwhile?

I am thinking about replacing my Hunter rotary sprinkler heads with something more robust in terms of water flow and reach - see

Has anyone done this and were you happy you did?
The current sprinkler heads are rather wimpy. I don't see the village property using them on their grounds.

I have had good luck with the Hunter Rotor PGP-ADJ series...what issues have you had?

I don't see the point in upgrading. As long as you are covering your lawn with water. Water is water. What do you mean by robust? Wimpy is fine with me. Most people water too much.

If you have St Augustine grass, it doesn’t take nearly the amount of water that grass up north take. The little rotors do a great job if adjusted properly.

I'v replaced at least 100 of these around TV with the Hunter 32SA. It's gear driven, very adjustable, and I've never had one fail. I like it because it does not have the plastic cover over the adjustment screws, dirt will get under that cover and make it harder to acess the adjustment screws. Depending how hard you shop they're a $10 to $15 head.

Just curious, but it appears that you may be new here (5 posts). I'm wondering if this was your idea or did some "door knocker" try to sell you an "up grade" to your sprinkler system?. Standard installation seems to work fine for most folks here.

Note that The Villages are not just maintaining grass and plants. They are also using the irrigation system to manage the water levels in the ponds to prevent flooding.

Whimpy heads may be due to plugged screens.

Maybe. I have never understood a purpose for the plastic filter screens. If they are plugged, I just remove it and throw it away. No more clogging.
