I spent about two hours doing my share to burn a hole in the ozone layer, as I took an extended tour around the center and southern parts of TV...
This is the insanity I personally witnessed...
Nothing. Not a damn thing...
Golf carts (including mine) passed over 2 dozen bikers, and countless pedestrians, safely.
Golf carts stopped at stop signs, cars allowed golf carts to merge into the regular lane along Hillsborough and Marsh Bend Trail...
No bikes "claimed their lane", nor did they prevent anyone from trying to pass them.
I even saw 3 people out with their dogs actually pick up their dog poop! Imagine that!
Now... The bad...
ONE biker failed to stop at a stop sign. But, in his defense, it was at a newer area, under construction, so cross traffic was minimal at best.
One pedestrian was walking WITH traffic, rather than against traffic. They were easily passed, without incident...
Was I surprised by any of this? Not at all, since it's pretty much what I see every single day.
Does this mean nothing bad ever happens? Of course not. Just like anywhere else people drive, bike and walk...

I took a similar ride in the golf cart with my dog. Two things I really like about the new area. The bike/walking trails are very nice. I also love the much wider concrete water drainage inserts where the cart paths cross roads. The wider width allows a much more gradual downslope to the recessed center of the drainage depression. The much narrower drainage inserts in the northern area remind me of inverted speed bumps, or speed depressions, that are back jarring. The wider ones in the southern areas are much better on the back, and the carts suspension.
One thing that really jumped out to me was the absolute lack of signage directing golf carts from the bridge going into Brownwood to get to Buena Vista North. If one is familiar with the area, i guess I t’s no big deal. But for infrequent travelers in that area it’s like trying to navigate a maze. I had a hard time finding the way dead sober in bright daylight, I can only imagine someone leaving City Fire after a long night? It blew my mind how non existent the signage is!

Today I watched someone in a yellow golf cart run a bicyclist onto the grass on Morse Blvd. They were heading southbound toward 466 from the De la Vista area. Either a woman or a man with pretty thick longish hair, I only saw them from the back. The bicyclist was a man who was trying to stay close to the edge of the road so the golf cart could pass, but the golf cart didn't want to even try getting onto Morse (no turn signal) and instead, tailgated the bicyclist.
I felt horrible for the guy on the bike. It's not like the golf cart could GO anywhere, there was a red light up ahead and several other golf carts and a -lot- of traffic.

The entitled who are in a hurry to make it to red lights are a prevalent group - usually noticeable when we bike. The light will not turn green any sooner. When will they ever learn ?

They won. Got to the red light before me. Been here 17 yrs., and that is one of the several juvenile driving behaviors I see daily. More: Tailgating. Also, Coming to a stop when they have the Right-of -Way. (irrational "courtesy") - including in roundabouts. TV is the only place where I've dodged hundreds of wrecks, and I've been driving for 60 yrs.

Yes, signage is definitely lacking in the southern area. I’ve written the Commissioner about it months ago (we live in Fenney), and got a reply that they were working on it. Gosh, doesn’t it seem signage would be FIRST on the list. Unbelievable!

I guess it is a way of trying to get lots more people to download their app. Seems to me it would be a lot safer to have cart drivers paying attention to where they are driving than constantly taking their eyes off the road/paths to stare at their phones? Sometimes I truly believe the world was a much better place before cell phones.

My brother has walked that path every day for two weeks now (he has more ambition than I do). He has mentioned seeing other walkers and carts but the only time he has mentioned a cart getting close was on the corner out of the neighborhood. Even then it wasn't a near miss, it was just closer than usual.
Since he walks the same time each day this is really only one data point.

I just took the southern loop from the Chitty Chatty bridge to the Brownwood bridge. I followed the Morse Trail South and Meggison Trail North signs the whole way with no problem.
There *is* a lack of signage at the north end of the Brownood bridge where the trail dumps you off in the parking lot behind Cody's. It's easy enough to get to Buena Vista once you know where the trail is but the lack of any sign makes it very difficult for anyone trying it for the first time.

Yup. The signage in the South has served me well, but I do understand one's confusion coming over the Brownwood Bridge and entering the parking lot...

Okay, back for the day...
Went out around 9:00 to Eisenhower Rec Center, Woof Gang's to pick up some dog food, and then took the Boss for a ride from the Brownwood Bridge, did some exploring in the newer sections along Meggison Rd, crossed under Morse just below Aviary Rec Center, and came back over the Chitty Chatty Bridge, stopping at Publix and the Rohan Rec Center...
Came home for a quick lunch, then back out to the Sarasota Driving Range...
Here's what we saw...
ONE person running with (rather than against) traffic... All pedestrians were keeping to the edge of the path and were passed without incident.
Every single biker was riding single file on the MMPs, several waved us around when we came up behind them...
Every single cart that was in front of us or, passing in the opposite direction actually stopped at the stop signs (okay, maybe 1 or 2 slowed to barely a crawl), but close enough for Rock & Roll...
Saw plenty of people walking their dogs, but none were leaving anything anywhere...
I guess I must be doing something wrong...:shrug::shrug:

Total waste of time...
We thought we were there for the "Introduction to Pickle Ball Lessons", but it was just "Beginner Level Open Play". We sat and watched for a while, were invited to play a few times, even though we really didn't know the rules that well (we had only watched the required video)... Which was nice of those who invited us...
Then, one guy started yapping about how he gets frustrated when people who've never stepped on a court show up and want to play... I mean, what did he expect at "Beginner's Open Play"?
Anyway, we took that as our invitation to leave, and we did...
After a bit of research (which we thought we had done...), we found that there is a separate Sign Up session for initial instruction. We're now scheduled for Wednesday morning... I forget where...

I'm sorry you had that experience. You won't need much instruction at all to get to the Beginner level. When you do you can find the complainer and smoke him.
Generally you'll find players open and welcoming. If you do find yourself in over your head playing much stronger players, generally they will play down to you for one game, and hopefully suggest, gently, that you may be in the wrong group. It happens. People think they are in an "advanced beginner" group but are actually in an "advanced" group.
And warm up and stretch. A lot.
