We have recently switched from Verizon to T-Mobile for provider.

I dislike the voicemail to text transcription feature. It is redundant and for me, provides no added value.

After googling how to disable this feature it is unclear, to me, whether this feature is a T-Mobile or Apple issue (....I did not have this unwanted feature with Verizon).

Does anyone KNOW if this feature can be disabled and share how to do so?

I'm pretty sure it is a T-Mobile feature. Try this:

In the T-Mobile app:

Open “Account” tab
Click “Profile settings” link
Select “Block calls and messages”
Select “Block Other” on the line you wish to update
Turn on “T-Mobile Voicemail to Text Block”

We are on another family member's account, I will pass this along.
Thanx.

Did you happen to get a new iphone when you moved to T-Mobile? I can't find any way to control that feature on my iphone with AT&T service. However, a support article on the AT&T site claims the feature is part of the newer iphones and ios. I believe it just showed up on our new phones.

Another data point: A Verizon page offered the feature for free on iphones but charged for it on Android phones. This makes me think it might be part of the iphone/ios since otherwise Verizon would have charged for that too.

EDIT: On my iphone, voicemails are transcribed within the voicemail application; I can choose to read the text or press a button to listen to the message. I believe this is automatic. It seems that with some services, perhaps T-Mobile, that transcription (or a transcription from the provider) is also sent to the user via text. This does not happen with my AT&T service. If the text message is what you are trying to get rid of then it seems you would follow the procedure provided by retiredguy123 except, you would turn blocking ON and not off.

Correct. Turn it "ON" not "OFF". My bad.

Apparently, you have to change the language setting of the voicemail...

I had the oppose problem, couldn't get transcription to work. An iphone guy at Best Buy figured it out & fixed it for me. Siri must be enable for transcription, so I'm guessing disabling Siri should turn it off.

Maybe. But, if it is a T-Mobile feature, as well as an IPhone feature, you may also need to turn it off by accessing your T-Mobile account. Post No. 2.

it's a great feature on the iphone 13. Don't know what's not too like.

You may want to re think this…it is a great feature! If you get a call when you are unable to take the call, you can quickly and quietly see if the call is important.

LOL, we went to T-Mobile because of the price we got. My wife & I pay $46. a month, $23. Per phone & NO limit on text, phone calls or data. No dropped calls or calling or talking issues! T- Mobile use to be very Mickey Mouse.
