Are there any fans of the television series "The Prisoner" starring Patrick McGoohan? He was known for a previous British television series called "Secret Agent" AKA "Danger Man". The Prisoner was a bizarre and a thought provoking show. It was about a British intelligence agent who abruptly resigns from service and is then subsequently abducted to a place known as "The Village", where everyone is referred to only as a number. Every week The Prisoner AKA number 6, fights against those in charge who want to know what the reason for his resignation was, while he tries to outfox them and look for a way to escape. A great cerebral show that was way ahead of it's time. It would be great to have a gathering with fans of the show here in The Village(s).

Liked secret agent better especially the song.

Watched the Prisoner for awhile and finally got bored with it.

Loved him being chased by the big balloon.
All he needed was a pin, and he would have been out of there.
James Bond he wasn't!

Spent the whole semester of a high school english class watching the Prisoner. This was in the mid 70's so it must have been on a reel to reel videotape machine. You can't compare "The Village" to The Villages. We have better amenities.

Since the threads been hijacked already...
Good Diana Rigg quote:
The older you get, I have to say, the funnier you find life. That's the only way to go. If you get serious about yourself as you get old, you are pathetic.

I am not a numbah!

Having a gathering of Prisoners fans in the Villages is about as likely as me organizing a successful get together of Siouxsie and the Banshees fans. But good luck. I’d go.

It's available (and free) on Amazon Prime TV Series. The tech is a bit overdone and passe, but the show's intensity more than makes up for it. Check it out!

When my husband and I first came here, guess what we thought...initially... especially with the piped in music in the squares. We used to joke about the concept in 'The Prisoner' all the time. How would you get the series to watch it as a group?

Been a prisoner fanatic since 1967 when I saw chimes of Big Ben in Canada in French
Was a member of 6 of one the prisoner appreciation society for a couple of years in the 80’s
I even named my dog Patrick McGoohan Blum
If you want to start a group I am in!!!

So far ahead of its time and indeed too cerebral for the average viewer. The ending was mind numbing.

McGoohan was good enough friends with the Beatles to get one of their songs in the finale.

I think Mrs Peel, you are talking THE AVENGERS. Someone must be offering those reruns. I do not recall if they ever dared mention a Mr. Peel. Would never make it past the codes of the times.

As I recall Mr Peel was a soldier of some sort and MIA.

Danger Man was produced I believe in England and his second show secret agent was produced in America with slightly higher standards and More travel. He was a man of high moral values and thus showed never using the gun if he could help it or have a abhorred killing people . There are a lot of British TV shows that never make it to the US that are very interesting in particular several involving the British secret service that are just wonderful. Also some great comedies like are You being served or Time after Time
