Frequently when GG got her feathers ruffled she would take the football and go home but she always returned and always short of the goal. Looks like this was a permanent forced time out. Spot on. The constant paranoid interrogations of new posters was unsettling. Once the pandemic hit and there were lots of new posters here, the clique was pretty much outnumbered.

I have been given a few "time outs" in the past because of her and due to me defending myself in regard to a number of her comments that were unjustly made towards me and at me. Most of the time she would fly just under the radar so as not to be given a "vacation."

In the past, she even had something negative to say about the font I choose to use because it is a font that is easy to read (IMO).

She requires constant acceptance from her base, has an ego that must be fulfilled, and cannot be challenged.
There is no end to the depth she will go to assassinate someone when the wind is blowing in what she considers the right direction. .

Well, I don't know, if I had to guess, I would guess the people that are being hostile disagreed with her. She was not afraid to state her opinions. I did not always agree with her, but I never found her to be antagonistic or insulting. That said, she and I expect the rest of us can get a little heated at times. It seems to be something that has gotten much was in the past decade.

Yeah, the reality: She IS a nice lady, (I met her once), and not the type to take terrible potshots at someone who no longer posts. I didn’t always agree with everything she posted but she is a very good person.

I guess you can't satisfy everyone. There are always those that are jealous of the positive attention some folks get. There are some that are perpetually negative all the time and wish others to dwell down there with them. By reading and counting the posts by the negative members on here, I think we all get the idea. Some folks just are not happy and do not wish others their own happiness.
Gracie was a contributor with mostly a positive demeanor and for most members on here, a real joy to hear from. I did not always agree with her, although most of the time I shared her views on issues. Heck, we don't always agree with family members, right?
Agree with her or not, Gracie has been an intelligent, thoughtful and mannered contribution to TOTV.

Reminds me of when my mom became a grandmother. Our precious little ones could do no wrong and it was constant praise and attention. Discipline was no longer part of her vocabulary. When mom would leave I'd say to my lovely bride who was that lady ? Not the same lady from the house I grew up in.

I always found Graciegirl's posts to be friendly. I don't recall any that seemed to be overtly meanspirited. She has a gracious tone that seems to fit with the theme of The Villages as a friendly hometown. This forum is rather small, so you wouldn't expect to find a lot of daily posts. On other forums that I've participated in, it often takes a few "regulars" to keep things rolling and provide new content. She seems to fill that role here. If someone doesn't like what she posts, I suppose that they could simply scroll on and ignore her. Rather than criticizing any poster here, a more productive use of time might be to find additional conversational content to share here.

The problem is then #4 is too small but #5 is too large.

I didn't say that the font I was using is better, but it was just a personal choice of mine.

I don't even know what TOTV's default font is, but they do give you a choice of about a dozen fonts you can choose if you want to use a different one.

The font I've used here is Century Gothic.

I've always used Comic Sans and had three opinions here that it was not good.

You should check your eyeglass prescription :) Actually it's used in comic books because it's "comic" (silly) and thus the name :) and why virtually every forum, magazine, newspaper, news chyrons, social media apps, messengers or anything else that uses text on the interwebs uses some form of arial, times-roman, courier and a number of other similar fonts. And yes, as we age our vision, even with glasses, makes things harder to read (and hear which is why closed captioning is ALWAYS on on my TV these days!). :1rotfl:

Gracie was our first friend when we landed in The Villages. She certainly is a fantastic cook. I haven't seen her in about three years. Like her or don't like her, I and I'm sure Gracie could care less.

I never talked to her about it but I think the last time out and the feeling that getting put on the bench must give a person was finally enough. Her post saying she was leaving TOTV'S was gracious, what else could a person do?

I rarely post, but have been on TOTV for years. Actually what many folks do not know is that before I started with my business name here, I was a different name.....close to about 15 years ago. Back then TOTV asked me to be a moderator, which I did for a few years here. When it came out, (not by me) that I was a home inspector, it then appeared that my business was benefitting from TOTV, so I felt it would be more ethical to stop moderating and pay for an ad here and post using my business name, so I could more easily help those with questions. My sons now do most of our inspections, and we now do over 800 a year in The Villages.

I say that to just say I'm disappointed in the few who posted such rude posts towards Gracie.....Or Anyone. My Mom taught us that if you did not have something nice to say about someone....don't say it.

I've met Gracie a few times and always found her a happy, optimistic, helpful person. If for nothing else, she has been in The Villages for years and must have a lot of Villages history. To me she always saw the glass half full. I hope she sees this post. Hi Gracie! I hope you are doing well and life continues to be good to you.

All of us have lived more than a few decades. We are better off than probably over 99% of the world's population. We have so much to be thankful for. If we were all the same life would be VERY boring. Seeing that we ARE so blessed, and in one way or another, we are all neighbors, I'll choose to see the good in people, overlook the faults, and be kind.

We all have way more years behind us than ahead of us.....let's strive to be the best version of ourselves. Stay well...!

The problem with Comic Sans on this site is that the "4" size is too small (sez some others) and the "5" size is too large (sez me, for ordinary responses). What to do, what to do; it's a dilemma??!?

I haven’t been on TOTV recently due to health problems and I began to notice GG wasn’t posting. Now I’m sad I asked the question, some of the members vitriol is disturbing,

I have not "forced my opinion" on you. Yes, I said you were obsessed with the fact that you would never buy a home if the owner didn't have an ongoing termite contract[/U] on the property. I called your bluff by saying that when a lender has a qualified company do a termite inspection for the purpose of someone's mortgage, and the property was found to be termite-free, that is proof that the house is in termite-free condition and you basically said that wasn't good enough for you. Huh???

Not agreeing with GG about certain topics was not easy to deal with. Those who opposed, would usually take a break and close down their PM, for awhile.

While mostly I did enjoy GGs posts, I too had to remove myself several times, before my posts became as under handed as the responses. What really annoyed me was her need to question what sex I was, (not sure why it was a concern) and that multiple people must post under my name, causing the thought I could be male or female. I cannot imagine what someone's gender has to do with what their comment is. The gender of some posters' comments is obvious because of their name or photo, but realistically, most of the time, it doesn't matter.

Well said. Unfortunately, many of those who've made comments on this thread have never shared the same experience as you (or me!).
It would have made the others more understanding and knowledgeable.
