Has anyone heard an explanation for why the VPSD will need twice as much funding if they become and independent district?

Today:
$124 per parcel plus 0.58 mil ($0.58/$1000 assessed value transferred from Sumter county to pay for the VPSD)

If the independent district is created:
"Simplified" assessment of $124 per parcel plus $0.75 per $1000 value (looks more complicated than before so unsure what is "simplified" about that)
PLUS
1.0 mil ($1.0/ $1000 assessed value)

Looking at the chart of sample comparisons, most properties will pay almost twice what they are paying now.

Has anyone heard an explanation for why the additional funding is needed?

It will be interesting to see if our Sumter County taxes will be reduced by the nearly 1.75 mil that we will be paying directly to the new district.

Note: To those who feel the need to be snarky, I will post what I am told after I call but for now I'm asking if any of the other users of ToTV have already heard the explanation.

I live in the Marion County section of TV, so I don't have access to the Sumter County/Wildwood property tax forms. My understanding is that the current $124 is for fire service only; there is a separate line item for EMS (I can confirm that is the case in Marion County). My guess is that the cost to residents of TV in Sumter County of the EMS side of things will now fall under the fire district. The $124 under the proposal is for fire and the rest is for EMS -- check your property tax bill to see how the additional stuff compares to the EMS $ you are paying to Sumter County/Wildwood.
