Oncology Doctors in the Villages

can anyone weigh in on recommendations for an oncology doctor in the villages,

Yes... wife was diagnosed with lung cancer a year ago...we were referred to Eric Sommers @ Tampa General Hospital for surgery. Interestingly Tampa General is considered to be in the top 10% nationally for this

At one time he was located at the Villages Hospital...so a lot of the local MD's know of him

Locally, the MD's that we worked with were all with the Florida Cancer Specialist group. the one we liked was Dr. Sachin Kamath (352.753.9777)...located in Brownwood (which is a fabulous site...not too crowded and loaded with people that truly care)


You didn't mention the type of cancer....For Bladder Cancer she had used Dr Michael Fountain...at Advent Health in Tavares...he is one of the top urologists in the area

can't say enough about him

we did the follow up chemo and radiation at Brownwood as well...which was really easy and less crowded that at the Villages Hospital

My wife has been going locally to Florida Cancer for about 8yrs. Twice a year she sees a specialist at Shands in Gainesville. Some folks prefer Moffitt in Tampa but Shands is our preference.
