I have thoughts about moving to The Villages. I know it’s suggested to get a golf cart. I was online and came across this electric car by ChangLi company. I was wondering if you can use this in place of a golf cart. They’re really neat looking. 93046 .

It looks like the Atomic electric vehicles sold in Wildwood. I think they can be used on the golf course, but you may need to replace the tires with wider ones to not damage the grass.

OP, you might want to consider maintenance, repairs, and parts. Yamaha's (probably the most popular) are easy to do all of this, and there are companies that will service at your house. I am sure you will have significant problems with this vehicle.
Also, you do not state if this would be a licensed vehicle (like a smart car), that changes how you can use the vehicle and where you can use the vehicle. IMHO, a new technology GAS golf cart works very well in TV.

I did some more research on the ChangLi electric cars. Found a video about The US company who sells them .Went to their website, only to find they weren’t as reasonably priced as I originally saw them at. They’re around $8000,00. Might as well by an Atomic car.

Forget about it! Buy a cart that is built in America and where service and parts are readily available. Yamaha, EZGO or Club Car. Anything else will lead to brain damage eventually.

Not familiar with it. My view is the same with most things particularly complex things such as an electric car. An orphan product, NO SUPPORT SYSTEM, may be inexpensive till you purchase it. Parts, where will you get them? Service, who knows how to diagnose and repair problems?

Website? Some truly impressive looking websites are some unemployed, too old to still be called A KID living in their parent's basement. Around 8,000. Shipping? Final assembly? Tax?

$8000 for a new cart is a great price as others are up to $18000. Those will look out of place just as the atomic and others do. I prefer gas carts and would not look at something that was only available in electric.

well-regarded but as everyone says unless you're handy not something I'd get involved in better to buy a used golf cart

only goes 30 miles, and if you like supporting China, that's your choice. it will never find it's way to my place ever.

I own an Atomic cart for about two years. They are sold and serviced by a local dealer near Brownwood
It has been reliable, so far for 14000 miles. I get about 50 miles between charges
Parts, service has not been an issue
These carts are safer, have more comfortable seating, air conditioned, heated, windshield wipers and more
I play golf opening the doors to get out and play is not an issue
I am not a salesman, just someone who was had similar negative feelings for Atomics until I drove one

Atomics go 50 miles with a lead acid battery while using air conditioning
With a lithium battery they go 90 miles

Wow, a whole 50 miles? What about as the batteries age?
Of course, 50 miles will be the round trip from Mulberry Plaza to the southernmost, yet to be developed areas of TV near Center Hill. If you only get 48 miles, enjoy your walk:1rotfl::1rotfl::1rotfl:

Golf carts are part of the lifestyle here reminds me of driving around in my old sports car. When I look at these I think you are closed off you might as well just drive your regular car and rent a golf cart there it's not much different

Chinese product. Junk. There is a reason the gas Yamaha is the most popular golf cart here.

Same misconceptions about electric carts. Not complicated at all and do not stink.

I would think the A/C cuts into the Miles per gallon Some like them, some don’t. It would work for me I rarely (probably ever?) go 50 miles in my gas “gold” cart. No way I would drive my golf cart to far southern end, my back would be out for month? But, my gas cart will out last me with no high dollar costs.

What I'm having a problem is understanding how Allentown Pennsylvania is surviving now their resident genius left town??? :ohdear:

I've seen reports and YouTube videos of people buying a ChangLi vehicle direct on the Alibaba chinese website for around $2000 or less and importing it themselves. The "dealer" mentioned here imports them, adds a few things, then jacks up the price to $8000+. Not suggesting you import one yourself if you wish to, but check out some of the YouTube videos and reviews. Personally, I wouldn't buy one for use around here.

It is to bad you can’t go south on your cart. It is a beautiful ride. We love taking the 26 mile ride to Fenney, takes about an hour and 3045 minutes for us.

Only seen Changli on the computer. Still, don't think I want to be first on my block to own one. Have a car. Have a cart. No desire for a Chinese Frankenstein car/cart.
It's your money. It's your decision. Good Luck!

You'd have pick them up at a port, pay duties, transportation, go through inspections and on and on. When I got my 1st Atomic I looked at doing just that under the Chinese brand name for my 2nd one (wasn't ChangLi) off Alibaba. It was about $8G'vs. $15G's and I needed to buy 4 and it would have cost over $4G's more EACH to get it here after everything was said and done. There is a lot more than just ordering one since it is a vehicle and has to go through customs and inspections and documents out your back end. Read the "fine print" on Alibaba for what is NOT included in the price.
Biggest boondogle is, no one will fix any problems if you had any.

My opinion, and everyone has one. By the newest gas Yamaha you can afford. You can’t go wrong with Yamaha.

News to me. Don't tell that to the Japanese. Yamaha corporation started there back in 1896.

Actually I’ve been researching a lot on the ChangLi electric cart. It not really a car. It’s considered a cart. The body is all metal. The chassis is square tube construction the same way they build other golf carts. The reason for the high price is not the for the vehicle but for what it cost to get it here. Just like everything else. They come with heating and air condition, am/fm radio and backup camera. There are US import companies that buy them by the lot, to sell here. They did this so you don’t have to incur all the fee and shipping issues and delays , if you were to buy one on your own.Electric Import Motors is one of the companies that I saw their YouTube review video’s on the cart. According to the video the 2022 has improved dramatically to cater to the American market. Maybe if you put a small solar panel on the roof it will give you some extra miles.Remember Hyundai in the 80s well look at them now. Ya never know.

ChangLi electric cars are not street legal in the USA. And since their engines allow them to go over 20mph, they are also not legally considered "golf carts." They are legally LSVs, in the USA, and must be registered and have the appropriate minimum insurance (PIP and that other one) in Florida.

Yes, but since they are electric they can be adjusted to conform to "Maximum capable speed of 20mph" usually through onboard ECM or (less often) gearing as per FL laws as can Atomic, Gem and dozens of others and be fine to use unregistered. The issue becomes when they are imported a declaration must provided of their specs and end use as that determines duties applied on landing in US ports. If the importer wants to pay higher (LSV or ORV) duties that would be his issue as long as they are sold at the appropriate speed limit (which of course is another story in itself). I was looking into importing one of these things a few years ago before realizing I was a lot better off letting Atomic do all the work. :D Gem, older Atomics and others can all be set and locked (haha) to just about any speed up to 28-33MPH depending on what model.
Now if you want to license one of these as STREET LEGAL/LSV that's another story and takes a bit of physical work and paperwork (other than GEM and 1 other I believe) which can be licensed like a car at a dealer or local DMV office because it is listed on FL DMV listings as meeting all requirements. Atomic and the other odd-ball imported vehicles need to go through a State inspection and a couple certifications and a bunch of paperwork and be trailered up to Ocala for State inspection which in my experience was a joke. They get it, take your money, look at it and say you're good to go.
