It seems like there are more and more and more YouTube content creators in The Villages every day. Soon half the people will be walking around making videos about The Villages. I hope no one is in witness protection because the likelihood of being filmed is greater each day.

They all claim they don't make any money and do it to help mankind.

If you are a successful content provider it can be profitable

Yes indeed! For lots of folks it is extremely profitable and their only job.

The more YT uploaders the less creativity. How many times can you watch a golf cart ride?

Yes, you can make some good money if your channel has a active subscriber base. It's always a challenge to be creative and make something that is worth watching. Eventually people get tired of seeing the same topic covered over and over. That is where the challenge comes in. New YT channels in The Villages always seem to post something that has been done countless times before.

Its something to do during the retirement years. Beats sitting on the couch, watching TV and melting into the cushion.

I video tape worms that travel on my driveway after it rains. The next day when the suns out, I sweep their dead dried out bodies onto the grass.

Lol... I hope you have your camera video taping the sweep extractions. That will really up you channel's traffic. People LOVE gore! Lizzards going to town really bring in the "like" and "subscribes" too. Thats how I bought my first house in TV!!

I love YouTube. It is sort of like the wild west of entertainment. Lots of really good stuff and some unbelievably bad stuff as well. One of the real valuable aspects is that you can find instructions and guidance on doing just about everything. Five random searches done just now revealed YouTube help on the following:
1. Field-dressing a moose.
2. Whale meat recipes.
3. How to perform an exorcism.
4. Efficient dumpster diving.
5. How to artificially inseminate your goat.
There are some real clunkers out there, particularly those who have a modicum of knowledge about something and then do a series of how-to videos about that something that are often incredibly offbase and can be dangerous. As a young man I spent some years logging up in Minnesota, and one day recently just idly browsing through YouTube topics I found a guy instructing on the correct way to use a chain saw. Except that he had no clue. Some of the stuff he was doing was counterproductive, but some of it (he was cutting with the back of the blade) can cause serious injuries.
Pays to be selective, I guess.

I find plenty to do here. Mostly golfing. I'm not a couch potato binge watching "Golden Girls" or surfing the net...

Yes, agreed there are many. The most recent seem to be realtors.
Skip Smith is one of the pioneers and continues to represent life in The Villages for the world to experience.

Skip used to be great. Now it seems like he's recouped his equipment cost and now trying to make some extra money. Nothing wrong with that, but the content is getting stale.

Golf? Here in TV?
I'll have to check that out. I can always record Golden Girls and watch during my Happy Hour.

I used to watch his stuff. He was good. I can't imagine what he can address that he hasn't already addressed.
Is he finding new angles to explore?

Skip was good when there wasn't anyone else around. As others grew in popularity and surpassed him, he went on these negative tirades about why his membership/ subscriber/ likes weren't increasing as much as others. There were a few in a row where he complained about people watching his content and then not LIKING it (which helps him to monetize the channel) Personally, I don't care if people are making money on it or not; I just hope they are happy doing what they do. I think everyone prefers a positive experience and positive commentary. Wish everyone well / Pray for ALL.
