Something is wrong with all the old people here in The Villages.

I have lately restarted my morning walks. Every morning, all these old people are out and about, and get this - when I walk by they smile and wave at me for NO reason!

What is wrong with these people, don't they read this and the "other" forum?

Don't they know they are supposed to be rude and angry?

My sincerest apologies for not disrespecting you as I am supposed to. Since I will not be walking tomorrow morning, I shall make a grumpy face now and snort while raising my middle finger. I apologize for failing to video myself so you could get the full effect of my grumpy, rude and angry old fart persona. Hopefully, you can enjoy your walk tomorrow, knowing that there was at least one who tried to show you proper disrespect.
Pleasant dreams.

"I'm walking on sunshine (Wow!)
I'm walking on sunshine (Wow!)
I'm walking on sunshine (Wow!)
And don't it feel good

Hey, alright now
And don't it feel good, hey"

(Katrina and the Waves)

Yeah, I noticed that too! I get maybe 100 smiles and waves in return for my smile and wave, vs. maybe one or two grumpy old farts that can offer nothing back but a frown.

That’s our typical experience as well. I wonder if a common scene like that will ever be shown in one of the media’s documentaries (hit jobs) about the Villages?

Imagine my horror and disgust when I pulled my bags of soil up to my truck load it and this rude person came up and loaded it for me and said God Bless!!!!! The nerve of some people! I tell ya!

Bingo. Put another way, "if it bleeds, it leads".

How does that Johnny Cash song go...."bad news travels like wildfire; good news travels slow". Two geezers fighting over a parking spot will get a lot more attention than the proceeds of a bake sale held to help the victims of something or other.

It varies with me. I might have someone thumb their nose at me while driving his golf cart after I say "Good Morning" here in the Lynnhaven area. One-handed, of course. But get a greeting from the next person. And then have a very friendly exchange with someone I know. The thumb flyer was a man I did not even recognize. Just someone I tried to be friendly with.

Only smiling because I’m reminiscing about the good ole days, when steak was 6.99 a pound

True--but then again, it is true for the rest of the world as well. In my experience Villagers as a whole are much friendlier than the people were where I came from. When I'm walking with a Publix bag in my hand I'm often offered rides by both men and women. Complete strangers. That NEVER happens, and with good reason, just about anywhere else.

That's not to say that you'll never encounter some bitter old geezer with a giant chip on his or her shoulder. But those are a very small minority here in TV.

Lol. The people that have taken the trolley tours learned the wave and smile jestures. They have only recently started the tours up since "the virus" left TV.

The trolley people are ruining it for the r-b-f (use urban dictionary if you don't know what that means lol) non wavers! Life is a struggle.

I moved here in 2001 and I asked the realtor why people waved at us when we passed each other in the golf cart. She told me that Harold Swartz wanted it to be known as the friendliest hometown. They had a radio contest and if you were stopped for waving at a radio employee, you would be handed a $100 bill. That contest was over when we moved here, but people got in the habit of waving at golf cart drivers. They don't wave as much as they did back then. Right now that would be a good thing to bring back. We'd have a lot of happy people trying to be noticed for waving.
