There should be an existing coax from outside to feed low voltage box for CATV if you are already using coax for internet then another coax will need to be run to box panel for DIRECTTV distribution.

All homes are wired for cable - either comcast or other cable co. You can us this for Direct TV, but then need another cable run from cable co. for internet. that is why I stay with comcast. Been there, done that.

The low voltage box is in the garage. It has the coax to each TV inside along with the coax from the outside green cable company box (somewhere out in the yard - by driveway or in the backyard), wires for the irrigation valves, ethernet cables, etc. It is a large white box/panel larger than the electric panel and is located beside the electrical panel.

FYI, I have had DIRECTV in Fort Lauderdale and here in the villages and both had the same problem, storms. I have spent a significant amount of time with no signal at all, so I went back to Comcast in both locations. Good luck if you decide to go with DIRECTV.

Can you get NFL Sunday Ticket all games live with that?. I believe Direct TV has a streaming service where you can add NF L ticket. You’ll still need to have internet service so there might not be a cost savings over cable when you combine the costs.

We've had DirecTV here in Indiana since 1996. Overall I've been very happy with them. We do lose signal once in a while during storms. But thats not very often here. We plan on spending winter in TV, starting in January. I'm considering DirecTV streaming for down there.

Direct tv is terrible, low technology compared to the competition. I’m surprised that AT&T is using direct tv with an outside dish since the new direct tv is a streaming service that took the place of AT&T TV which rides on your Ethernet service.
We have a brand new block house and we had 1 coax in our network box for Ethernet and another coax for a satellite service. We use Dish network for our tv and the technician hooks up a splitter in the network box that distributes this tv signal to every room with a coax that you want to watch tv in.

At our house, the coax from the Directv Dish came in underground the block wall into the sprinkler box. There was no need to drill a hole through the block. Look inside your white sprinkler panel and see if you have your house coax cable ends in there. Then look on the outside your house and dig down a few inches and see if there is an unused plastic conduit pipe end coming from that box. The coax can be fed up through there. Good luck

Thanks, I will check into that. Right now streaming YouTube tv. Last time I checked on streaming Directv if they offered satellite in your area they wouldn’t let you stream it.

Not true. I've had DirecTV for many years. I called about changing my package and they mentioned I should consider their streaming service. They know that's where many people are headed, so they want you to stream from them.

Our dish is mounted on the roof. They went through the soffit and down into the communication box in the garage. Just as a side note, we got rid of Direct TV after six years of having their service and went with Youtube tv. Much better pricing and many more features, as well as a better channel line up. ($72/mth for up to 5 TV's, but does require a FireStick for each TV. I got mine from Amazon for $25 per).

They must do things differently in the Courtyard Villa's. I have a designer home and there is a communications box in the garage next to the power panel.

I got tired of recording a sporting event, then seeing the picture go while watching it. I moved to streaming, saved over $100/month, and have never looked back.

If you look at streaming, read the reviews, look at the pricing and features. DirecTV streaming is a poor choice when compared to either YouTube TV or Hulu Live. Less channels, higher cost, and poor DVR. YouTubeTV has the best DVR by far for any of the streaming offerings.

For now we just have DirecTV sat down there since we don't retire until the end of the year, and we don't have internet there. We only come down a week at a time as we take vacation. So we just activate our account as needed.

That’s why we all have choices ,but as far as low resolution goes I have mistakenly taped a show on the low resolution and it takes me awhile to realize that I’m watching it in lower resolution because the picture while clear makes everyone a little wider , anyway there have been very few times that I’ve actually lost viewing and not for very long , if it’s that important a show I’ll go to demand and watch it ,besides I never turn the TV on before 7 pm except for football , I’m sure all those services are fun , but all I need is NFL ticket , Turner Classic Movies , my 2 Public Broadcast stations and ESPN and Network stations

I'm not sure how local you are looking for, but there is a Fox affiliate channel (Fox35) on YoutubeTV , which broadcasts local news for central Florida out of Orlando. In addition there is a free app called NewsON, which will give you access to a number of local news channels throughout Florida including Jacksonville, Tampa, Orlando and a number of others. You can add that app to your dashboard using the Firestick. This is what my Firestick dashboard looks like, which is fully customizable. I can access YoutubeTV, NewsON, HSN, History Channel and Prime Video by just choosing the icon using my remote. You'll have to excuse me the clarity of the photo. My hands aren't as steady as they once were.

You CAN get NFL live and the NFL RedZone with YoutubeTV. The NFL RedZone is part of an optional sports package called Sports Plus which is $11 per month, but not to be confused with NFL Sunday Ticket.
