Someone told us that the Walmart on Heald Way on 466A is closing this summer. It was confirmed by a Walmart employee. Anyone else know anything? Are they opening a Walmart Superstore nearby?

Remodeling is the rumor It's only been opened like around 3 years. Strange.

It is rather small would hope it could expand into a super Walmart Kinda doubt they could fit a "super" Walmart on that property + all the parking it would need. This tiny place often has a full lot.

If it's closing for remodeling, that means it will open again. I sure hope so. I do a great deal of my grocery shopping there.

We’ve been using this Walmart for 5 years. It’s not the closest store to home but they really have their act together. I’m sure whatever they are doing with be worthwhile.

It's going to be remodeled! It was extremely busy during the "high season" here---try to find a parking spot was impossible. We go there because it's close by but it's not attractive when it's slammed like that. Wouldn't it be great if they build another one south of 44???

I don't think there's any room to expand it. Maybe redesign the interior. Like others have said, sometimes it's difficult to find a parking spot.

In Fort Worth, the store stayed open.

The Neighborhood Walmart will remain open throughout the renovations, which are expected to be completed in mid-August.

There is also an article in the alt news site.

Many more to be affected.

Upgrades at another Neighborhood store:

A spokesperson for Walmart said the renovations include updating the deli department and the online grocery pickup area, adding electric delivery van chargers to the parking lot, installing a new refrigeration system on the sales floor, adding a fresh food cooler in the pet department, remodeling the restrooms, updating the store’s sound system and more.

A two month Reno is a short time period likely reorganizing the refrigerator cases, shelving for better merchandising in some Debts and likely add a Dept that is not represented. Shutting down you can accomplish a lot more than trying to work around an open supermarket. Did many supermarket Renos in open supermarkets up in NY and scheduling is very difficult, particularly keeping it safe and sanitary.

Shutting down for two months and not shutting down while remodeling so posts say. Confusing information but not surprising. It is what it is…

It seem everyone has a option what's going to happen. Time will tell what will happen and for the most part we don't have control whether Walmart closes or remodels

Been waiting for Yogi’s take on this Thread. :bigbow: That said, there will be a bit of inconvenience while they remodel for a few months but that will pass and all will be okay and perhaps better again. We do a lot of shopping there because it’s close and convenient. Summer is an excellent time for this because many in TV take their vacations during this timeframe.

The OP's question was:

Q: Walmart across from Colony closing this summer?

A: According to Maureen at the Walmart store (No. 4565), the store will not be closing or changing their hours of operation. The store will be remodeled this summer, but the remodel work will be performed at night after hours.

Large stores like Walmart and Amazon have greatly improved price and availability of products. I can remember when the one person pharmacist was only open Monday through Friday from 9 to 5. I buy almost everything I can from Amazon rather than drive to a store. It's usually cheaper and it comes the next day.

I never have understood why people like deli meat. It’s ground up product, loaded with salt that is pressed into a ball which they slice for you and they say it’s fresh.
