They have exercised liberally including a $50 increase this billing cycle. My question for forum has anyone signed on with Verizon internet thru their 5G network that supposably available in Villages. Thank you in advance.

Take a ride down to the XFinity store. Discuss you account with them and explain what you want. I have found them very helpful and I usually end up saving money. Sure beats talking on the phone…….

That means your contract has renewed. I believe you have that very first cycle of the new year to change your plan without penalty. You would need to contact them directly - at the store is usually quicker.

"Triple Play" isn't really a package anymore, now you customize. I just checked using a house in the neighborhood that doesn't have anyone living in it, for the current promotions (you won't get to see those promos on your own account).

I can get 600mbps, 185+ channels, and the phone for $153.95 not including equipment, fees and taxes.

You need to be vigilant with Xfinity. Set your calendar to remind you a month before this year's contract expires, so you can call them and go through the negotiation process again.

I don't believe T-Mobile has a cable TV offering but there are several threads discussing streaming options.

We pay over $300 up north but have cable to 6 TV’s. In Florida it is about $170 with 3 TV’s. We have phone up north. A lot of money but I like my shows and don’t want to stream. The last time I tried to lower the plan they would only add all the pay channels and keep the cost the same.

Actually, it means that your contract has expired, not renewed. You no longer have a contract, but are on a month-to-month plan. So, the contract discounts that were applied have been removed. That is why your bill increased by $50. Whenever you start a new 1 or 2 year contract with Xfinity, you should mark your calendar so you don't allow the contract to expire without replacing it with a new contract. The best way to do that is with an in-person meeting at the Xfinity store.

My xfinity kept going up and up, even after I negotiated a lower price. I dumped them and never looked back. I went to Centrylink for Internet, guaranteed price for life, no increases. I now stream via Roku and get more variety and much more entertainment than ever before and a great picture. All this for less than half what I was paying at Xfinity.

You go to the xfinity website. If you already have an account, if you log in to your account or use your own address when it asks for it, you will NOT see the current new-customer promotions.

The only way you can see them is to enter an address of a property that doesn't currently have xfinity. Any house that's unoccupied, would likely qualify.

So I use a house that I know recently sold and hasn't had anyone move in yet. It's a vacant property, without any internet or TV access.

Xfinity isn't really landline anyway, it's VoIP. If the electricity cuts out in the house, so does the phone access. It is reliant on the internet to operate. On true landline, your phone still has dial-tone when the electricity cuts out.

Regardless - WiFi only and streaming YouTube TV with a Roku is a great option. That's what we did. My computer, laptop, printer, tablet, the TV in the living room and the TV in hubby's "man-cave" (workshop) all feed off the wifi signal. We also have both our cell phones set to wifi when we're home since we're on a shared data plan for our cell phone service.

He can watch golf on TV while I'm watching a movie on my computer. My hearing aids are blue-toothed to a streaming device on the computer so I can go speakerless and have full stereo surround sound in my head while watching the movie.

We haven't gone the "smart home" route - probably won't, but other than that we're totally hooked up to the internet. With no cable.

The Xfinity he has now is a VOIP modem and even Verizon is very likely to have VOIP somewhere in the me middle.

Most VOIP modems have battery backup for power outages though they would not last as long as traditional landline service (if that even exists any more)

I had what started to be a bad experience in Xfinity the other day but the Manager ended up doing a great job and even followed up after the billing problem was straightened out. Wowie. Thought I was on customer service with Amex of Apple.

The last thing they are finding for me is the ENGLISH speaking customer service phone number. There is one and it's a secret.

No, my initial rate was around $200. It increased $48 last year when original term expired. This last $50 increase was a surprise to me.

As for the 5G internet offerings ... beware.
They sound great and probably work well ***---IF---*** you are near a 5G tower.

I tried the T-Mobile version and found it VERRRRRRY slow. The closest tower to me is still 4G and that's the one their box connected to. At the time the nearest 5G tower was much farther away than the 4G tower I can see looking out a window.

Use a tower finder (https://www.waveform.com/a/b/guides/cell-tower-mapping) to check before you buy.

Pretty sure YouTube tv still has a 7 day free trial. On a smart tv download the app and follow instructions for startup. No smart tv get a roku or fire stick . If you like it cancel the crap out of everything but internet from Xfinity. Sounds like (for the OP ) the landline is just there for the bundle plan which may have expired

I have noticed VERY slow data rates when my phone switches over to 5G as opposed to the "old" 4G. For example: When playing Mallory Hill last week, I noticed my phone receiving a 5G signal. Launching my Bushnell Golf app took until we were on 2 tee until the course maps were downloaded. Previously, using 4G, that process took less than 10 seconds. For that reason alone, I would be reluctant to have my home internet based on 5G cell service.

Whenever Xfinity does this, I ask to speak to the "Retention" department. I basically tell them that unless they give me the same price for another 2 years, I'm gone. After a few minutes of their smoke and mirror specials and discounts, we come to an agreement for another 2 years.

Did you know that if you have Xfinity for your home internet you can get cell phone service from them at a fraction of the cost of Verizon using the same cell towers? Two years now for us with Xfinity and the cost for two phones total is $33 a month. There are monthly data limits but we haven’t reached one yet

My Xfinity Mobile cell phone bill is $13.63 per month for unlimited talk and text, and up to 1gb of data, which I have never exceeded. It uses the Verizon network, which is the only network I would ever use.

Now, I have HBO, HBO Max, Showtime, EPIX, Prime Video, Cinemax, Disney, and hundreds of live regular channels with all the sports I want for less than $150 a month. As long as you keep one Xfinity service, like internet, you don't need to wait until the contract expires. There is no penalty to downgrade your service.

Streaming U-tube TV, Prime, Netflix, Brit box, on a Roku device. I do have a smart TV but find the Roku remote easier to navigate so i got one for each TV.. Roku $29 one time fee.

Nobody needs a landline and I wouldn’t use any internet companies voip service because normally this costs over $20 a month. I have been using Ooma for 10 years and pay around $5 a month for taxes after buying the box for $100.
Check out all streaming services for which channels they carry to make sure they have what you want to watch. Right now, I have been using dish network for tv and have for over 20 years. I worked out a 2 year deal with them so their price is comparable to other streaming services and giving me much more tv content and technology.
As for streaming services, the get all the sports channels I want and the channels my wife watches, I would have to get multiple streaming services at a cost of more that what I’m paying dish. I use Apple TV’s for streaming tv and audio to every room in my house

as for Verizon, like everyone else whole it might provide the best service (as claimed by others) it really depends on where you are because then all your internet is on 5G aka just like your cell phone.

First, buy your own modem instead of renting theirs. Only buy their internet speed, at least 100 speed. Then get an Ooma, if you want local or long distance phone service besides your cell phone. Finally, purchase a Roku for streaming, and research cable TV streaming services like You Tube TV, Sling, Fubo. It's a lot cheaper and no contracts!

5G towers are few and far distance between. Most folks in the Villages would not benefit from 5G because the only tower I see on the map is located around Rt.466. According to what I read, they only transmit about 1500 ft. without obstructions.

The person isn't looking for cellular service at all. They're looking for internet, TV, and landline phone (which they aren't really getting anyway, they're getting VoIP but it's still not cellular).

Also T-Mobile service is lousy in some areas of the Villages, just as AT&T service is lousy in some areas. It's 100% dependent on cellular towers, their location, and any obstructions between your house and the tower. The internet speed is advertised to range between 35mpb and 115mpb. That means there might be times when your "streaming" TV won't stream at all. Or if you're streaming and the phone rings, you might not be able to hear the call - or the TV might cut out. God forbid you try to use a wifi connection to print something out off your computer while you're on the phone with your lawyer - good luck with that.
