The air ducts are made of a flexible material with lots of nooks and crannies. Cleaning them will not be effective, and the equipment could puncture a hole in the flexible duct. If that happens, you will have a major problem trying to locate the leak and getting access to it. I would never allow someone to clean the duct system. But, you should have the dryer vent duct cleaned to prevent a fire. That duct is a sheetmetal duct inside the wall.

You can have the VENTS cleaned and the air handler cleaned, but as noted above IMHO I will never try to have the flexible duct work cleaned.

I just hired Air Mavericks to do mine. All 5 star reviews and just got on BBB with an A rating. They are coming next Monday.

We used Tom Wright for a healthier home. The owner, his son & 1 crew man came in & took out the vents, took them outside & washed & dried them. The owner Tom took great attention to our heater & cleaned that. The suction system they used pulled 10 years of dust, pollen:) & residue out & into a tank. They also cleaned our dryer vent inside & on the roof.
Very pleased with the company & highly recommend.

Just used them a week ago. They arrived when they said they would and did 4 rooms in about 3hrs. They will ask you if your having your carpets done that they have a protective application to help prevent stains $25 per room. Hesitate and they will compact and lower the price somewhat. Plan on having wet carpet fo about 24 hrs. Turn on ceiling fans and lower AC temp to increse evaporation. They did a good job.Good luck.

Did you use the ones out of Orlando or Ocala?

We recently had Wright Way Duct Cleaning service our system and we are very happy with the service. I would recommend the Wrights to anyone needing their ductwork cleaned.

My house it the total opposite. Metal ducts inside house, flexible for dryer vent in garage. So I would have no problem getting house ducts done.

I think the flexible part of the dryer vent is only the section that connects the dryer to the wall. Any ductwork behind the wall is most likely a metal duct because it can get hot and must be fire resistant.
I would agree that, if your air supply ducts are made of sheet metal, then having them cleaned would be safe to do, but I don't think you will get much benefit from doing it. Most of the newer houses with the ducts located in the attic have the flexible type ducts.

One more endorsement for Wright Way. Home inspection had found airborne mold—only when the fan was on. After the Wrights finished, it was gone. They are neat, clean, personable, know what they are doing, and showed up exactly when they said they would.
(We once used Stanley Steemer for carpet cleaning and were disappointed with the results. Granted this is different from duct cleaning....)

I just had my air ducts cleaned. My house was built in 1998 (Tierra del Sol north). I'm sure it was the first time to be cleaned. The technician showed me the fan before they began cleaning. It looked like my dryer lint tray after towels were dried. I have bad allergies and when I turned on the heat earlier this year, I was sneezing and blowing my nose all day. My AC company recommended Advanta Clean. 407-973-6352. Very professional. Not cheap, but worth every penny. My AC is even much more quiet. Highly recommend. They even fogged the ducts after cleaning to prevent mold/fungus. Not sneezing now.

Totally agree, but one way to help freshen up the flexible duct work is to remove the filter in the A/C unit, crank up the A/C, and spray a can of Lysol where the filter housing is. The system will suck in the Lysol spray and help disinfect the ductwork. After doing this, replace the filter, run the A/C, and leave the house for about an hour while the smell of the Lysol dissipates.
