I got a letter today from The Villages about my priority golf membership, informing me that the Trail Fee for executive courses was no longer included (old news). But it also informed me the priority membership would no longer include the club pools…I hadn’t heard this before. That’s a couple hundred dollars/year less value for the future priority membership. And I don’t know if the priority memberships will be increasing this year. Is it just me, or are we receiving diminishing rewards for our Village dollars and loyalty?

So do you have to purchase a pool membership as well to be able to use both.

Priority golf did not include tennis or CC pools. It has been an add on since 2010 when we first signed up for priority. Pool add on if you so chose has been $200. So only thing so far that has changed is trail fees are no longer included in priority membership

The priority membership sign up form is not on the golfofthevillages.com web site Only the credit form.
Although, they still have and they updated the country club pool section.

The pools were not an add on. You are required to pay for the priority pools. We have our own pool and asked for a reduction and were told no you must pay.

I also received this letter. It starts out announcing a pay on line feature to start May 1 2022 for (and is spelled out as follows):
Championship Golf Membership Enhancement
Championship Tennis Membership Enhancement
Country Club Pool Membership Enhancement
Executive Golf Trail Fee
Under the " Championship Golf Membership Enhancement" section the following sentence is present in italics "It no longer Includes The Executive Golf Trail Fee or country club pools".

Talked to a realtor, I think the model will be to make the CC pools like the pool at Fenney Grill. Open to the public, with a bar/restaurant next door.

Wrong, it did include “Pool membership” as well. It did not include tennis and you could purchase Pool membership only for $200. Priority members did pay trail fees which was incorporated in the total membership.

Do not have an answer for your question and will await next years renewal and/or the information when we have access to the new web site. Would think/hope that the trail fee and pool cost will not be included in my renewal
I would like for the person who wrote this letter to check his dictionary. Writer called this an enhancement. Only enhancement(?) I saw was that they have expanded priority memberships to include monthly rates. That is an enhancement that only affects a small % of the golfers and is probably only an enhancement for the golf course owner as it probably helps their cash flow.
Can't wait to see next surprise!

The logic behind the trail fee is clear----once the exec courses are turned over to the CDD(?at 10 year mark?), country club administration has no right to give that fee away. But aren't the country clubs and their pools owned by the developer, which would mean they could "give" that benefit with priority memberships? I have to wonder how many of those that frequent the CC pools have bought the pool membership without priority gold and how many are priority golfers. If the latter, I can envision a lot of empty pools.
Also---exec courses that are new and not yet handed over to the CDD are being treated the same? Who pockets those fees?????

The new rates are posted online. Go to “Golf the Villages” website, look under “priority membership”.
It appears the pool and trail fees will add almost $400 to the $925 household priority membership.

Yes, it is now up on the website-----$260 for pool and $132 for execs, while keeping the $925 for a couple the same. It's a nice "a la carte" menu, just like Ruth Chris or Morton's. I'll take the baked potato for an extra $18:1rotfl::1rotfl::1rotfl:

Wow, I'm pretty much in shock over The Villages new pricing of priority golf. I paid $925 (plus tax) last year for the twelve-month priority package for a couple, which included priority pools and executive trail fees. Now, the new priority rates has stayed the same, but no longer includes priority pools or trail fees. This is a price increase of $332.00 ($132 for the trail fee plus $200 for priority pools). I had expected the priority golf rate to decrease substantially, since it will now includes a lot less value. How naive am I? Needless to say I won't be renewing my priority golf when it expires on July first. It's value has gone to less than zero for me.

When lanes are open for amenity fee paying residents who want to swim laps. That’s not “ petty stuff” for residents that show up to swim and can’t get a lane because the developers lifestyle guests are using them.

We're fine with him having to pay trail fees for the executive courses, he walks those most of the time anyway.

Just a heads up:
My priority membership is due for renewal the middle of May. You are allowed to renew one month prior to the actual renewal date. If you pay before the end of this month you will be grandfathered into last years fees. I called and verified this. As such, if you happen to have a May renewal date, be sure to sign up before the end of April and you will get the CC pools and trail fees for the old fee of $925.
Otherwise, it will cost you over 40% more for the same amenities if you wait until May 1st. Yikes!!!

Employees who work with customers in most of the rest of the customer-driven world, get discounts on products and services of their employer.
Golf ambassadors, starters, and pro-shop workers get a discount on golf and products in the pro-shop. But they don't get a discount on the pool, because up until now, the pool was included in their priority membership. Now that it isn't, they should get a discount on that.

May I assume you play both CC and exec courses? If so, let's say you go for the whole enchilada----$925 priority, $132 exec and $260 pool = $1317 + $92.19 sales tax= $1409.19. At the current savings of $17/ round on CC courses, you would have to play 83 rounds in a year between the 2 of you to break even, or less than 1 round/week. If you both play 2 rounds/week there would be a savings of 52x4x17=$3536 less the $1409 or net $2127----plus you get to play all of the exec golf you want at no additional charge and then relax at a pool. Hardly a value that has gone to "less than zero".

Or, they could play only the executive courses, walk the course, use any adult or family pool they want whenever the pools are open in the entirety of the villages, and not pay a dime more than their monthly amenity fee - which they pay whether they play golf and swim or not.

Maybe, but sounds a bit convoluted. A pool attendant gets a golf discount as it is. They do not have to be priority members, just get 1/2 price on the applicable category of greens fees. An ambassador getting a pool discount? Maybe, but like all of us there are 108 other pools to choose from, they don't have to be priority members. It is usually a slippery slope when we start making a lot of exceptions-----what about discounts for veterans? those with disabilities? mentally ill? Ukranian refugees? They could---anyone could----but the fact that they are currently priority members implies that they have a desire to play CC courses. My response was simply to give them an idea of the price points they are looking at so they are less prone to making a knee jerk decision.

Pool attendants don't get to use the pool at all unless they pay full price for pool privileges.
I'm not talking about discounts for other demographics of the population. I'm talking about employee discounts for employees, whatever their status, making use of the property in which they work. If you're employed by the country club, you should get discounts on all of the things the paying customers get to pay for.
When I worked for Staples as a cashier, I didn't get a discount ONLY at things that were near the cash register. I got discounts on every item the store sold. When I worked for a supermarket that actually gave discounts to employees (that is amazingly rare), I got a discount on ALL store-brand products. Not just the products in the aisle I was assigned to work.
At the shoe store when I was a kid, I got a discount on ALL shoes and accessories sold in the store. Socks, laces, whatever customers could buy, I could buy too - at a discount.
That is the nature of customer-driven employment. The only exceptions would be pharmaceuticals, alcohol and tobacco, which have certain federal regulations.

Not a great assumption. The $17.00 per round priority discount is only on the (highest) Winter rates. While we haven't seen the Summer rates yet for 2022, if history repeats itself, the savings per round will be considerably less than $17.00 per round. You can look it up.

I do realize that, it's not my first rodeo. Last year the summer difference was $11, but even if we average the savings to $14 it reduces the savings to $2912 less the 1409 still equals $1503 in yearly savings, so the concept remains quite valid.

Unfortunately, they were not. The 2 person priority golf fee remains at $925, but now you will have to pay and additional $132 for exec trail fees and $260 for CC pools. The $20 for one month trail pass has been available for a long time, and it doesn’t just benefit renters. It also helps out the large percentage of Villages homeowners who are not full timers and like to enjoy their homes at various times throughout the year. Here is the bottom line, which many do not want to hear. Priority membership is not required, it is a option. Yes I understand that it has changed, but it is still and will be a choice. I relate it to going to the store to buy products, I have found the packages smaller and the price increased, but it is my option to buy or not to buy. As a priority member, I do not play exec golf or use the pools so I have no skin in the game. Complaining here does no good, other then make ourselves feel better that we voiced our opinion.

Just in the past year fuel is up over 35%, groceries up over 25% etc.
over the years we have been duped, if you prefer, with similar tricks. The Priority has been $925 the four years that I have been here and the green fees pretty much the same.
So instead of increasing the price they are giving you less and you can add what you want.
It has been a while but go buy a half gallon of ice cream, no such thing. There were problems and they did not want to raise the price so they made the carton smaller. They did that with cereal and many other products as well but most never noticed it. They had stable prices but got 30% less. They were happy because their ice cream, cereal or candy bar is still the same price.

over the years we have been duped, if you prefer, with similar tricks.
??? The greens fees go up every year. And the condition of the golf courses is questionable. And they are giving us less but charging the same amount for a membership, while they are selling a record number of homes. Can you spell GREED?
As golfing eagles said: Last year the pools and the trail fees were included in the $925 (+$64.75tax= $989.75) couple's priority fee. This year the same products will cost you $925+$260+$132+$92.19 tax= $1409.19 or an increase of $419.44 = 42.2%

I never understood why people wanted to pay for a priority pool membership and I’m a status snob , who at 83 is still shopping at Hugo Boss and Amani for clothes and the more expensive the restaurant, the more I want to be there lol
I love the pool at Country Club Hills. It has a waterfall, it's big, there's a restaurant with an outdoor bar and you can order food and drinks to be delivered poolside, and they have a hot-tub.
I rarely go even though I live in walking distance, mostly because I have a nice cool air conditioned house, why would I want to cool off in a pool if I'm already cool inside? I need to see if I can still be added on to my husband's country club membership for an extra $80 (since I don't play golf). If I have to pay $200, forget it. Not interested. I'll go to Hilltop pool, that doesn't have a restaurant or bar, or waterfall, or jacuzzi, and is much smaller, and further from my house (definitely not in easy walking distance).

I have been a member of my country club in VA for over 25 years. Every year the dues and cart fees go up. Cost control to provide us a service. Just life.

Actually kind of glad the pool fee isn’t included, maybe the CC pools won’t be as crowded.

Or maybe they'll be so empty that it isn't worth the maintenance cost to keep them open.

Having dined at Evans Prairie many times, I can count on one hand the times I've seen more than several people in the pool. In fact the majority of times I've not seen a single soul in the pool.

Having dined at and played Evans Prairie, I never knew there was a pool there... Go figure...

There are so many great pools in The Villages. Why would you pay extra?

Priority golf did not include tennis or CC pools. It has been an add on since 2010 when we first signed up for priority. Pool add on if you so chose has been $200. So only thing so far that has changed is trail fees are no longer included in priority membership
Signed up for priorioty in 2013 and its always Included POOLS, EXEC GOLF and of course CHAMPIONSHIP for ONE Price . NO ADD ON FOR POOLS.
Your statement is incorrect!
Our renewal date is in October, so will wait to see New change then unless they establish one change date for all current members.

Found in GolftheVillages….notice Championship rates are separate now…you also pay separate fees for CC pools, and tennis. Executive trail fees are also their own category now.i

The question I have now. Can you buy just a priority pool membership?

Yes - plus that has always been an option. Been doing it for years.

So, for one person who plays golf and enjoys the pool, but doesn't play tennis and walks the executive courses...
and their spouse, who ONLY uses the pool and nothing else...
It's $1000 total?
$740/year for 1 person with the golf, plus $260/year for 2 people for the pool?
I don't remember what we paid for his yearly, but my pool add-on was $80. If I'm reading it right, my add-on for the pool is now reduced to $60.

The new rates are posted online. Go to “Golf the Villages” website, look under “priority membership”.
It appears the pool and trail fees will add almost $400 to the $925 household priority membership.
You are 100% correct. We have been subject to constant annual rate increases, 7% this past year due to sales tax not being included in the rates. The developer has increase the time that the highest rates apply and now they are asking for an additional $392 to keep the same benefits. I don't think the understand what it means to be living on a fixed income. They are driving away many who can no longer afford these ridiculous increases. I, for one, will no longer be purchasing an annual priority membership.

Because only "the developer" has raised prices? Where have you been?

The $17 savings is only from Jan. 1 to May 30, the rest of the year is a $7 savings for priority.
