I see a lot of comments, about the applicances and granite being inferior and costly, when purchased thru TV builders. I am just wondering if there is anyone out there, that has been satisfied when they have purchased everything thru the TV builders? Do you regret not going to outside suppliers?

I am satisfied with the quality of the granite countertops in our home. The GE appliances are near or top of their line. I do not know if that is the case for all models.
I have not seen "a lot" of negative comments.
I do not think you can go to outside suppliers for these items, unless you do it after purchase.

Very satisfied with both granite and appliances. They even installed a piece of leftover granite in my laundry room!

I have used the warranty department as a source of names of various contractors. I have never been disappointed. If I were to purchase after market granite counter tops I would probably use their recommendation. In our nine plus years here we have never had a problem with the original GE appliances. (We are running on borrowed time now.)

This is just my opinion. Regarding the occasional negative comment about GE appliances.
Virtually every house is provided with GE appliances. Therefore if there is a complaint about an appliance it is going to be about a GE product. When hundreds of homes are built with exclusively GE products there will be an occasional failure. It would be the same if all the appliances were high end LG or any other brand.

You made a valid point, Rag ******. I wish I had thought of it.

I am bringing this thread up again, because one of our new people just asked me about granite and who is best to install it.
We don't have granite here so I am asking you all to respond to our new friend who just IM'd me.

Very satisfied with our granite, and most GE appliances. We have called warranty on our GE dishwasher, and the GE service rep came and looked at it.
Excuses were everything from our water wasn't hot enough to run hot water at faucet before running dishwasher. This is our only complaint. Standard GE dishwasher appears to be just bad design (dispenser in position that one has to watch what is placed inside or detergent doesn't flush out). Have had dishwashers all our married lives, and never one this bad.

We had concern about our GE dishwasher not cleaning very well. One day I started it, then opened the door a few minutes afterward and the water in it was only lukewarm. I checked under the sink and discovered that the dishwasher was plumbed to the cold water line. Warranty had someone come out and redo the plumbing under the counter to get hot water to the dishwasher. It wasn't a GE problem at all. But I had been cursing the GE product before that. Works fine now.
