I have owned a home here for a while but we just moved here in February.
We live in the Orange Blossom area and I have been golfing for 50+ years and worked on courses on and off for years.
I have a 9-12 GHIN handicap depending on the year and my availability to play.
My neighbors are older and set in their groups.
My question is, what is the best way for me to find guys to play once or twice per week with.
When I was working there were about 25 or so of us that played every weekend and holiday as well as 9 holes once or twice per week. We usually wagered $10 per round but that is not necessary.
I am just looking for competitive golfers, not hard core but others that enjoy the game. I don’t care about ability, just those that like to play.
WHERE ARE YOU?

Post here and reach out to the first three individuals that reply. Might want to post possible days and range of start times.

Here I am. :)

Sounds like we’re about the same skill level with a similar outlook on the game.

You might also mention your intent to the starters, course manager and people in the pro shop. Who knows, there may be others like yourself and those people may know who they are and can hook you up.

I've been in The Villages 3 months and knew no one, when I got here. I play golf 3 or 4 times a week and have been asked if I wanted to join at least 10 different large groups and been invited to play with at least 20 different people.

Easiest place I've ever seen, to find people to golf with ... unless you're one of those folks, that people don't want to play with. I've found a few of those, too.

Go online to the Tee time system and sign on as a single to groups that have three players. It will tell you if men or women. Sometimes these groups are part of a large group. If you like the players in your foursome, ask if they are looking for permanent players in their group. Worked for me 10 years ago and still with them.

My husband did the same kinds of things as recommended here when we moved here 15 years ago, and soon ended up with a group that are like brothers; and they play several times a week. That group has grown over the years.

That's how I started out. Late afternoons, the starters at the time at El Diablo, El Santiago, and De La Vista which are close to me would match me up with others they knew would welcome me into their group. I was never placed with unwelcoming people.:MOJE_whot:

Thanks to everyone for the advice and assistance. I got more than a couple private messages and some good opportunities in those messages. This was a very successful venture. As usual, most Villagers are always willing to help.
Thanks again!
Joe

Hello, I interested in getting together for golf. Or maybe a league ... whatever... I just need to get out and play some golf with others that like to play as well.

Let's talk ...
