Who has the best burgers in The Villages?
(Taking a chance and responding to a first post)
The best burger is the one that you prefer, though everyone will have an opinion.
Square 1 has a large selection and usually has some promotion going on. World of Beer is tasty and has their $5.99 promotion on Monday. I've had both of those and go back regularly.
I've seen burgers at Cody's and RJ Gators that look really good though I haven't tried them.
There's always 5-Guys, Johnny Rockets, and Culvers.
And then there are the burgers I make at home.

If you venture out of the villages just a little, downtown Leesburg has a couple of good restaurants. I had a really good burger at a place called The Brick & Barrel.

I do.
If you mean which restaurants have the best burgers, I'd say most of them are pretty good, and they mostly taste the same. The only significant difference I could find was the choice of bun/bread and the topping options.

It’s ground beef 80-20 or 90-10 about a 1/3 of a pound flatten it place it on your home grill Lettuce Tomato and onion raw or grilled on a nice roll. Mine are as good as some of the $12 to $16 I see on menus in TV. There going on the grill in about 30min

Hi - My husband has mixed dyslipidemia and his cardiologist said he can have heart association beef which is meat that is 96% lean. I buy it at Aldi and Walmart. But you have to look at the heart association label. Then I chop canned mushrooms and black olives in it. I buy the liquid Campbells onion soup and put it in a pan and put the hamburger patties in that. You have to do that step because 96% lean meat can be dry but when cooking it in either beef broth or a liquid onion soup it makes the meat less dry. Then I put lettuce, tomato, pickle, ketchup, low fat mayo, grilled and a thin slice of raw onion and it tastes really good while being lean. Hopefully if you get a taste for a burger although it is something you prepare yourself - it is a healthy substitute for what you would get in a restaurant.

There are no charbroiled 1/2 lb burgers in the Villages which is my preference. Most listings are for greasy burgers and that might be your choice. I would say the Chop House if I had to choose.

Who has the best burgers in The Villages?
Hands down==> BONEFISH GRILL. There is one on 466.
Surprising, but they have one of the top 3 cheeseburgers I have had going back to 1993:
1. Margaritaville, Orlando, 1993: had gravy on it with onions and Swiss cheese.
2. Twin Peaks Hilton, Phoenix 2005: seasoned beef patties and exceptional condiments.
2. Bonefish Grill, Merritt Island, 2012 and current: still top notch Kobe beef.
I have had many GREAT burgers in my life, but these were the BEST, and hard to finish eating just because I knew they would be gone when I did! :icon_wink:

One of the best burgers, and a real bargain, is at Steak and Shake on 466 in front of Walmart.
All burgers are cooked to order, in sight (company logo is "In sight, it must be right"). Buns are toasted. French fries are very thin "shoestrings". The shakes are hand-made and are award winners. Sadly, due to the reduction in staff there is no longer table service and some favorites, such as the pot of baked beans, are not currently available.
The preparation is the same as it was in the 1930's when Gus Belt founded the chain in Bloomington, IL. Many of us would have starved when in college if not for Steak and Shake.
The kicker is that Steak and Shake has not raised its prices. Not only do you get a superior product, it is a bargain. The double cheeseburger combo with fries and a soft drink costs, roughly, $8.70 including tax!
Be certain to ask for the "pepper" bottle to sprinkle on the burger. It is a small bottle stuffed with very mild peppers in vinegar. Frankly, ground black pepper is probably hotter. However, it sure seemed exotic and daring in the Mid-West in the 1950's! Also, enjoy looking at the old photos on the walls of the restaurants, cars, and carhops from the 1950's.

Closest thing I've found to In-n-Out is Culvers. I was hoping In-n-out would take up Florida's invitation to come here when California shut them down.
Utah has In-n-Out burgers because someone opened a fast food place called Cheddars and had the same menu and design. In-n-Out sued for copyright but lost so they opened a 5 restaurants in the Salt Lake Valley to compete. We were very grateful!
Anyone want to open a Cheddars here??

Here's my take on hamburgers.
With all the ingredients we put on burgers, lettuce, pickles, catsup, cheese, onions.
Then there's lean burgers, turkey burgers, vegetable burgers, God knows what else.
I swear we all could be eating ground dog meat, and nobody would notice the difference.

Best Burgers WILL be at Burger Fi, soon to open in Pinellas Plaza near the Beaumont development. They have a burger called the CEO that has burger that is a mix of American Wagyu and Brisket topped by a candied bacon and tomato relish; Swiss cheese; caramelized onions; and a truffle aioli. Get it with the Truffle style fries: Parmesan cheese and a truffle, garlic aioli.

Recipe???
I have a bread machine that I use on the “dough setting “ to mix the dough and it rises a couple times. 1-1/4 cups warm water, 2tbsp olive oil , 1 tsp salt, 2tbsp sugar, 3cups bread flour and 1 tsp bread machine yeast. After the dough is ready I divide it into buns and it goes in the oven on 200 for 35 minutes then turn oven to 325 and cook until they look good. Brush with butter after taking them out of the oven. It sounds like a lot of work but the machines do all the work !

Do not know the best burger but do recommend that you do not go to the pool bar at Nancy Lopez unless you like a well done burger. Have had good burgers at Codys and Millers Ale House.
I am finding out lately that this it is getting difficult to order a burger which is less cooked than medium and I do like a good rare or medium rare burger.

I will say that Ruby Tuesdays had a one pound Burger that my wife had . She truly enjoyed it oh, but my real answer would be, make it at home on a grill with a simple recipe Chuck meat so there's a lot of fat, chop up some mushrooms to keep moisture in and some chopped mushrooms, is Montreal spices and salt and pepper and if you really want to get crazy put some American cheese in the middle between two patties, press the edges cook at medium heat and flip twice then go crazy and toast your buns and enjoy the best burger you'll ever have. Don't forget a slice of onion and tomato and lettuce on the sandwich as well. I truly believe everyone can make a better burger at home, then having one at a restaurant
