Would appreciate any thoughts and recommendations of knee replacement
physicians in The Villages medical service area. Also interested in hearing
about any dual replacements at same time. Thanks

You might want to do a search on this forum. This question has been discussed many many times and there have been a lot of good information provided. That is what I did when I selected a doctor to do my knee replacement. And I'm glad I did.

Agree Dr Duke is great. Some people prefer the side entry surgery, thinking they will heal quicker. Actually, both approaches heal quickly, and the top entry allows the doc to better align the replacement. I think some people just don't want a scar on top of their knee.

By "dual replacements" do you mean both knees at the same time? Doctors VERY seldom will agree to that. I know of one person who got both at once. He is a recently retired police officer, in excellent physical condition. So, if you are young and strong, then maybe a doctor will agree to do both at once. Otherwise, no.

Before I had my knee surgery, I asked this same question on the TOTV forum. Most of the replies were recommending 3 different doctors.

The first was Dr. Steven Nguyen in Orlando. He was highly recommended but many comments indicated there was a long wait time to see him. Plus, being in Orlando was a negative because of the long drive to see him. However, one person said he may now have an office on 44.

The second was Dr. James Duke, The Orthopedic Institute, Ocala. Being in Ocala was a big plus but some of the comments were that you only saw his PA for your review appointment and only saw him for the surgery.

The third was Dr. Michael Messieh, MD. In addition to an office in Clermont, he has an office in The Villages, near the hospital on 441.

All three do the side incision and all three were recommended by their patients. I had mine done by Dr. Messieh and was very pleased with the results and how well the office staff handled all the pre and post op steps. But, I believe any of these would be great choices.

I used Dr. Karina at UNOVA in Lady Lake. He did a fantastic job on both of my knees. I was up and playing softball in 3 months (don't tell him I did). He also developed surgical tools that other surgeons use.
