Hope to hear from anyone who is using/has used a Segway on TV multimodal and/or walking paths. What was/is your experience? Good idea or bad?

I have not seen any segway's on the MMP's. From the CDD web page: The multi-modal paths are for use by NON-AUTOMOTIVE traffic such as bicycles, golf carts, pedestrians, and skaters. It is not legal…nor is it smart…to drive vehicles such as smart cars, motorcycles, or mopeds on any of the multi-modal paths in The Villages.

The link references a PDF regarding Segway's. PDF Viewer (https://www.districtgov.org/PdfView/PdfView.aspx?path=%27/PdfUpload/Multi-Modal%20Memo%20-%20Valerie%20Fuchs.pdf%27&ql=standard)

Just like E-bikes Segways are allowed on multimodal paths. Registered motor type vehicles are not allowed.

There is a couple in the Tamarind Grove area who tool around the neighborhood streets on their Segways. We were coming down Lowell Terrace toward Biscayne Villas one day. The couple was coming up Newburn on their Segways. She was on the wrong side of the street, and he blew the stop sign. We had the right-of-way, slammed on the brakes and were eyeballing him blowing through the stop sign and luckily saw her coming up the wrong side of the street.

I would advise be very careful when on one and make sure you obey all the traffic laws.

As should cart drivers, cyclists, car drivers, pedestrians, rollerbladers, etc.

Sorry, you're asking to much for replies only from those who "are or have". Unfortunately, this is a post only board and reading comprehension is at a minimum. You're going to get 2 pages of rules, advice, and admonishment from people who have never set foot on a segway. Again, sorry.

I couldn't have said it better! What was I thinking?
