Is there anyone who can help me or give references on how to fix a fuel gauge for my EZ-GO golf cart. When I press on the gas pedal it shoots up to full, but when I release the gas pedal it goes back to empty. Seems to be more like a tachometer than a fuel gauge, Thanks to anyone that can help

I don’t know how EZ-GO cart are wired or fuel pump components? You will probably have to find wire diagram (or follow wires) and have multi-meter to have chance to figure it out if you don’t want to pay someone.
First thing I would do, check wires for chaffed and metal to metal contact, see if wires run anywhere close to gas pedal, linkage or cable. Check grounding points.
Without wiring diagram I have no clue how it’s associated with gas pedal unless the gas tank wire runs near the pedal system and got tangled?

I agree with above, send me a PM with the year of the golf cart and if this is a manufacture installed gauge, I will see if I can find a wiring diagram. This definitely sounds like a loose wire or a shorted wire. I have a lot of experience with low voltage (car and golf cart 12 VDC wiring) and I may be able to help you. You would have to bring the cart to me (south of 466a near Buena Vista) for me to look at it. Otherwise I would use one of the mobile golf cart repair services.

I found a wiring diagram, might be right, not sure. However something you could try, with the key on and a near empty tank, see if you can manually lift the fuel sender while watching the gauge. It should go up and down smoothly, if not the sender may be bad. According to the diagram I found there is very little wiring associated with the fuel gauge, battery to switch to sender to gauge to ground. Send me a PM with you phone number and we can discuss further.

With your screen name Rich Petty, I would think your pit crew could fix it no problems? Just kidding.

Fuel tank sending unit is bad! If you have minor mechanical skills you should be able to do this repair yourself! Very common issue

I have a EZGO 2011 and the gas gauge has always worked as you described. Step on the gas and the gauge moves up to whatever is in your tank. Take your foot off gas pedal and the gauge drops.

I have a 2012 Yamaha golf cart and the golf cart only registers 1/2 full when full. I know the problem is the float in the tank that is on an adjustable arm. At what angle should the arm be bent?
Thanks for your help.

Whenever I get gas, I reset the tripometer to zero. When I drive around 200 miles I get gas. I once ran out of gas at 243 miles.

Pretty sure Yamaha didn’t offer FI until 2014 models, but I could be wrong

Yamaha started EFI with the 2012-1/2 models.

Don, I have not worked on an original Yamaha fuel gauge, however, I would adjust so the float can go almost all the way to the top of the tank. Then double check operation by letting it go to the bottom, you will probably need to force it down. Now senders have been known to go bad, so you can test the sender by removing it from the tank, and manually moving it between the full and empty positions WITH THE WIRING CONNECTED.
Hope this helps, if not send me a PM and we can talk over the phone.

The sender is essentially a potentiometer connected to a float. A potentiometer is. Strip of carbon with a sweep. As the sweep which is connected to one of the two sender wires moves the length of carbon and therefore the resistance Increases from the other connection point on the sender. The sweep has a mechanical connection, it wears out

I’m pretty sure you’re wrong cause I have 2012.5 that fuel injected.
