Yesterdays show was a bust. Only about 50 cars. I wish they'd change the year requirement to 20 years rather than 30. There are a LOT of interesting classic cars in that group. My retro Thunderbird is a good example..

Monthly is too frequent.
It's a tired (no pun) even.....same stuff that was there 30 days ago.

Dont worry. When the apartments take up permanent street parking...no more car shows or vendor nights or parades....unless the developer has said different? Has anyone asked? I sent a letter and email that has gone unanswered.

Losing those spot will not stop the car show, vendors or parades. :ohdear::ohdear::ohdear:

Simple...........they still have three out of four sides of the square and side streets.

If you need a map or drawing, let me know.

But, but, if they did it less frequently they would be breaking Old Harold's promises. That's why a lot of people moved here, don't you know?

Many less cars last night than let's say February or March. Anyone guess why? And the weather forecast definitely keeps a lot of the show type cars away. Blue Stone Circle performed for five hours and the
restaurants were quite busy. So be happy that the events we enjoy during the "season" are here for the summer.

It was too hot yesterday plus most of the snowbirds left. They should not have shows in June,July and august.

Yes they did. What I don't know is why if one does not like what's here why they moved here.

Enjoy the car show about every 3-4 months or so but understand why some are regulars.

We very much enjoy the cruise in, but only about three times per year. It’s mostly the same cars over and over again. When we have guests visiting it’s fun to bring people who haven’t seen all the cars before, they always enjoy it. What we REALLY MISS is the weekly farmers market. We almost never missed one of those, you always need fresh fruits, vegetables, and some fresh fish. Bringing back the weekly golf cart accessible farmers market, at least during busy season, would be a really good way to show that a serious attempt is being made to increase foot traffic and revitalize the SS town square.

The featured club was from Citrus County which is another factor to throw in the mix.

Who is in charge of the cruise inn ? Who makes the rules ? Who enforces the rules ? I would start there and ask the logic behind the present 30 year requirement. There would be no show without the car owners. In my view you have some power here since it is obvious the event draws a crowd once a month and that crowd in turn spends money at the local business. How do participants both owners and spectators feel about change ? Find someone that was an activist for TV parades when the establishment said no more. They organized and were able to convince some power to carry on.

One suggestion would be to rotate the events through the different venues. Farmers market, Cruise-in, Merchants nights.

I regularly take my old car to the monthly cruise in at SS. The reason the attendance was low last night was because the forecast was for rain. Most owners of classic cars don't want to be out in the rain. That is why I didn't participate. If the weather is dry, even in the summer months there are usually about 100 cars at the cruise in.

I believe if the rules were changed to accept cars 20 years or older there would be way too many cars showing up and being turned away, especially in the winter months. I think the max is about 256 cars.

I don't know what effect losing parking spots due the apartments around the square would do to the cruise in. I know it is very popular and neither of the other town squares could support nearly the same number of cars.

You can just walk around any of the parking lots if you want to see 20 year old cars, plenty of them still on the road.

You have to be over 30 to use the adult pools because 29 is not old enough.

Same thought process.

Thanks! The first post from someone who actually participates. And knows what is going on.
Others just take potshots at whoever runs the show....they don't know. Posting complaints on TOTV will not bring change................contact the Entertainment Department.

Are you saying that nobody who works for the developer ever reads the posts on here?

If it was me would like some idea as to how the residents were feeling.

Personally, I love the car show. Just wish I could remember to go more often.

But lower the age for "Classic" to 20 to include the Tbird revival? Why not 14 so everyone can admire my cherry '08 Ranger 4x4 crew cab, with electronically fuel-injected 4 liter V-6, pushbutton 4WD, and five on the floor! Now THERE'S a Classic!

And just think of all the cool hot-rod Civics we could admire, not to mention all those other fake classics Detroit produced in the "oughts" like the Chrysler Prowler!

Or here's an even better idea... what if the various car clubs rotated each month, so we could admire MG's, Vette's, and Mustangs instead of just streetrods every month?

Referring to your last idea that is exactly what they do at LSL. I think it is monthly, a featured Villages car club is invited to show member vehicles. I was there in February and March as a member of the Villages Convertible Club and the Villages Vintage car Club. Space is limited to 54 cars so it is not as impressive is the cruise in in SS. Depending on the club requirement many newer cars at the LSL venue. To me it is not that exciting to see late model daily drivers.

We usually enjoy the monthly car shows, but rain made this one a poor turn out.

I wish there were enough cars or enough interested owners that some type of rotation could happen. Seeing the same cars each month is boring and must lower turn out.

Would not say ever, but doubt if it is required reading.
Why waste one’s time coming on here and reading the posts of a handful of whiners/complainers.
TOTV is NOT the place to check the feelings of residents!

Quite a few people give rather constructive criticism. Say what they think instead of when in doubt the developer is always right.

Some rather smart people here and have gotten good advise on who to call for various things.
