Just put a label on our jar of jiffy, “for mouse traps only”. Will pick up a new jar for us next time at the supermarket.

We had one jar within the included lot numbers. Got it from Publix. Into the trash it went since it had been opened.

Skippy Has Recalled Over 160,000 of Peanut Butter | Food & Wine (https://www.foodandwine.com/news/skippy-issues-recall-on-three-peanut-butter-varieties)

Skippy also had a problem with three of their peanut butter varieties.

If you have a food processor or a powerful enough blender (Vitamix) it takes about 5 minutes to make your own. Just put all the ingredients into the blender (peanuts) and turn on high. Blend until it's peanut butter (a few minutes) and is either creamy or crunchy (your choice).

Haven't bought peanut butter in years. Don't need all the "extra" stuff they put in. If you want a little sugar or salt, you can add it, but being diabetic, I prefer the plain peanut butter. It is excellent.

At this point, I am making everything I can - butter, peanut butter, mayonnaise, (used to make mead) etc. I no longer trust the food factories.

Butter now that was a surprise.

Butter now that was a surprise.

With butter, I am looking for a local source of fresh heavy cream. But, at the moment still using store bought cream (not happy about it). You have to check the ingredients on store bought heavy cream, not all of them are "pure". Many have "added ingredients"...

One quart of heavy cream will make about 2 lbs of butter.

Some of the lots were sold LAST FALL.
It's not just recent purchases that are included.

Information regarding replacement on their web site is lacking. The 800 number for questions is not accessible (I am sure log jammed with calls).

I am a little surprised there is no direction given for replacement/refunds.

I will take my unopened jars back to Sam's Club.

"J.M. Smucker Company has voluntarily recalled certain JIF brand peanut butter products that have the lot code numbers between 1274425 – 2140425, only if the first seven digits end with 425 (manufactured in Lexington, KY).

There are a lot of numbers on food products. The numbers with lines, that is the bar code. That's not what you're looking for. Instead, look for the Best If Used By date. There you will find the date and a string of numbers underneath. Those are the numbers you're looking for, they are the lot code numbers.

As in the FDA's site guidance, the rule of thumb here is if you see a 425 sequence ending the first seven numbers."

Norton - Hey Ralph, what kind of peanut butter is that? Is that the crunchy kind?

Ralph - Yeah, it's the crunchy kind and I can prove it to you. When this jar hits your head, you'll hear a crunch."

Not possible. A quart of heavy cream yields around a pound of butter. The ratio of cream:butter is 2:1.

Also - I buy Teddie's peanutbutter. Hopefully, since their product comes from a different source than ConAgra et al, it won't be affected.

Hmmm a quart of cream should weigh 32 ounces but yields 16 ounces of butter?

Is this the new math?

We ate Teddies for a few years, they make excellent all natural. peanut butter.

You are right, my bad, you get about 1/2 butter from heavy cream, so 32 oz (a quart) would yield about one pound.

My Aunt worked for Teddy peanut butter for 30years ,she could walk a couple of blocks to work . It’s in the city of Everett right across the river from Boston it’s built in a small area of the city that was mostly Italian called the Village , a whole generation of families worked there , the owners have had many opportunities to leave the area but they have stayed ,but I don’t think for many more years , there’s a 2 billion dollar casino in Everett now and much of the industrial area of the city is being rebranded, it would be nice if all employers treated there workers the way teddy has

i received a voicemail from costco indicating that I may have purchased affected product. I was about to open a two pack, checked the code and i was in range. The costco VM said throw it out and I would be refunded. HA.. I tried online chat, and they said they couldnt find any record. So now I have to slug my two oversized jars back to wesley chapel to get my ten bucks back .. Good news is no one else carries two packs of 48oz JIF peanut butter

I bought a two pack (online) at Sam's in April. These were in the affected lot numbers. i did a "chat" with customer service yesterday. They refunded the amount, and never even asked for any type of proof. Now that's customer service!

Out of curiosity, I checked our almost empty container of Jiffy and found that the number on the label corresponded to the recall. Oh well, we survived and the last teaspoon amount in the bottom of the jar went out to the trash with jar. I removed the lid on my Peter Pan crunchy jar and found NO seal on it. Brand new and NO seal. It was in our storage cabinet, so it shouldn't have been open and there was no evidence that any PB had been removed. It had a factory smooth surface. Still, no use being careless so I threw it away also. I hope that there is supposed to be a foil seal or something on the container.
Well, at least we did not get sick from the recalled PB that we already consumed.

I called Sam’s in Lady Lake this morning. I got the words out “I have two unopened”. The lady laughed and said bring them back, opened or unopened for a full refund. Guess I was not the first one to call! We went over around noon, returned with no problem. We had a jar that was almost empty that is in the recall group purchased back in December. I guess we could have returned this as well. But since we had gotten sick from it, no reason to return.

Is this the new math?

No, it's science. Agitating (shaking, whipping, etc) the cream causes the butterfat to separate and solidify. The remaining liquid is called buttermilk.

Too late. Went to Sam’s, wife and I had a nice lunch at a local restaurant, then did out weekly shopping at Publix. Sometimes going out is better than doing on line.

Online refunds for online purchases.
If bought in the store it has to be returned to the store for credit.

Thanks for the update. Has anyone had any problems reporting on the JIF recall form? Or reading the product code which in our case is written in Script atop of other printing.
Or entering a telephone number. Only numbers accepted but none of my numbers accepted. Never saw such an unresponsive form. Tried reporting another way ie requesting info from company. No better. Perhaps, I am locked out for complaining.

Anyone wanting a free package of 51500 24136 ?
