Adding an auto sensing light switch to the laundry room

Any electrical experts out there who can recommend how to read the Lutron single or three way installation manual to install the auto sensing light switch at the far end, (no neutral wire end? There are two blacks and one red coming out to the wall to the prior manual swtich,

red on the top and the two black at the bottom of the regular switch.

On the auto sensing, there are two blacks, a white and a blue together.

Now I know that the auto sensor needs its own power, but not sure

sometimes the light switch at the far end words, sometimes it doesn't,
I seem to get it to work, but I can't figure out when the jumper is needed, from the instructions. . .

Please DM if you are willing / able to stop by Marsh bend for 5 minutes. . .

Why would you have an auto in your laundry room that needs to be sensed by a light switch?

Sounds like a good idea to me, our laundry room is between our garage and kitchen so we pass through it multiple times a day, often carrying stuff so it’s difficult to turn on the light switch. During the day the solar tube lights the room up, but it would be nice to have a LED light go on when it’s dark.

GE and others have motion sensing LED bulbs - the motion sensor is built into the bulb.

Thanks for reading, i did get it wired correctly. Now I have to figure out how to set the timer. We didn't put a solar tube in the passageway because we didn't think that was a place to be lit up much.

Just helps coming in from the garage at night having the light go on as soon as you open the door, or walk into the room with arms full of laundry.

The issue was that the words and the pictures weren't consistent. The picture worked, the words did not. I went with the words first. . .

I put these switches in the laundry room and in the spare bathroom. Important to put it on the wall as you enter the laundry room from the house. That way i does not go on when you simply pass the room,

I installed one also, as the above reply says, I put it on the wall when you enter the room. I set it for 15 seconds since that's more than enough time when passing thru. If you stay in the room then it stays on. I put a cover on the switch at the other end.

I have done electrical work before, but I must admit it took me a couple of tries to get it right. Setting the time was pretty easy.

I also added one inside the garage, I cut a hole, added a box and moved the wired to the new device.

Coach, we plugged in a motion sensor light into the light socket which is around knee high. As soon as door(s) opened the light comes on. works for us.

exact same reason we put one in....it was as dark as a pocket in the laundry room, carrying stuff was bound to be an issue at some point

We have an actual laundry room which is not a hall so we only go in when doing laundry, all is good.

Put an LED bulb in. Leave it on all day.
$5 a year to run.

I can’t help but cheer you on. We did this and love it. We also installed one in the garage. We blocked off the second switch in the laundry room so we don’t override the occupancy switch. Good luck, I called Pikes electric and it took the electrician awhile to figure out the instructions. Hope that makes you feel better.
