Naldo's Mexican Restaurant has been closed for about 3 weeks.
It is now reopened by a new owner. It is still named Naldo's, but when the new Sign comes in, it will be Tequila Cantina. It is located at 3551 Wedgewood Lane, in the strip center by Publix on 466.
I have eaten there, and the food is good, service is good, nice decor, piped in Mexican Music, and a nice outdoor patio.
You people that don't want to go back to Los Maguyes might want to try this one. FYI be advised only dinner menu on Saturday and Sunday.

Thanks. We ate at Naldo's a few times but recently they have not offered take-out so had to skip them and get something else.

We used to go there all the time when Crispers operated out of that location, it was a great place for sandwiches, soup, and salad. We tried Naldo’s once, it wasn’t bad but compared to Ay Jalisco as an option for Mexican, it wasn’t worth returning.

We got Crispers almost once a week and the Talk of the Villages people would meet there every week on Friday afternoon around three if memory serves. Once in a while one of the owners back then of Talk of the Villages--Talk Host-- would buy the meals.

Visited last night, Very Good.

We were told the owner is the cook.

I like that idea.

That place has changed hands more times than I can count. Running a SMB today is always a loss despite whether it is good or not. People open businesses not having a clue as to the expenses involved but only by thinking "I can make the best guac" not realizing they are stuck in a 5 or 10 year lease they must personally sign for even though they are a corp. That's why chains with multiple locations have a better (but not great) chance because the losses can be spread among them. Good luck to this guy but isn't he the 3rd Mexican rest to take over that space after Crispers left.? Everyonme has a dream to own their own SMB.....then they wake up to reality (I write this from 25+ years of personal experience) back when things were good). Today the insurance costs alone can kill you.

Sad that people will sink their entire life savings into opening a restaurant with no idea of the economics involved.

You are correct, has the highest failure rate of any business, and that was before Covid, labor shortages, and hyper inflation. Very difficult business.

Ever watch restaurant impossible? Do not believe they can fix a poorly run place in two days but do believe how little owners will know about their business and how poor the food they are serving is.

Agree. One mistake that some people make is to buy a franchise restaurant, or other business that has no name recognition. So, they are basically paying someone a huge amount for business training. And then, they need to pay a percentage of their gross proceeds forever, even if the business loses money.

Is this true with this new owner?

Are you suggesting this is true with this new owner?

I am talking in general have not been to this restaurant yet but now that our Mexican restaurant of choice is off our list will give it a try in the near future.

Had lunch at Tequila Cantina (Naldo's Mexican Kitchen) on June 18th. We've prevously eaten there under the Naldo's ownership. Our assessment is an improvement - food, & service is good - better than Naldo's. Right now we think it is the best "golf cart" acessable mex resturant in the Villages. FYI over the last 4 years we think Salsa in Tarvars or Las Margaritas (rt 200) in Ocala are the best.

Americans are starting to pull back on travel and restaurants

Good luck. The Economics of running a restaurant are difficult

I went in and wanted to order shredded beef tacos but it is no longer on the menu. Only ground beef. So I walked out and got lunch somewhere else.

The new decor is great but the food was just average on our visit. We will have to give it another try at some point....
