There's nothing shocking about it. The song is a reflection of the reality kids face every day at school. If the parents are shocked by it, they need to get their heads out of the sand and start being a solution instead of being the problem. Ignorance is not bliss. Ignorance is death.

Meanwhile if that shocks you, here are a few that might raise an eyebrow:

The Boomtown Rats: I Don't Like Mondays, 1979
Aerosmith: Janie's Got a Gun, 1989

Here's an oldie but a goodie:

John Barleycorn - Presumed to originate from the Scottish poem Quhy Sowld Nocht Allane Honorit Be from somewhere between the 15th and 16th century, and adapted as a song by Robert Burns in the 1700s. Interesting tune - it's actually about the ale-making process, but it was personified, to allude to torture and cannibalism. Speaking of which...

The Buoys: Timothy, 1971 - actually about two guys and their mule, but the mule's name is Timothy and the song doesn't mention that it's not a person. Once again - alluding to cannibalism.

Do you prefer Johnny Cash? He's like - the Murder Balladeer. Pick an album. Cash is like - the godfather of Gangsta Rap.

I don't get it. Men with a quick hand were often portrayed as the good guys in the old Western shows, which are still on TV. Remember Matt Dillon in Gunsmoke and Lucas McCain in The Rifleman? So, today it is considered shocking?

Rip Van Johnsocat? That was some long sleep. Lot and lots of sick (bad sick, not cool sick), dark and twisted music for you to check out. Start on the light lyrics like, "watch out where the huskies go, and don't you eat that yellow snow." Maybe you can move up to" Come on baby. Don't fear the Reaper".
