Polaris GEMs are a bad idea, they literally take up at least 50% of the already narrow MMP crossing the Lake Sumter bridge creating a very dangerous situation.

Legally, LSVs must be licensed.

I have seen many golf carts with state license plates on them - I don't know if they were LSVs or not. I suspect I have encountered LSVs with plates, LSVs without plates, modified golf carts without plates, and golf carts with plates.

Another post gave a 2010 determination that LSVs are allowed on the cart paths. I have not seen anything official disputing that.

Probably OK in newer southern areas with wider paths and higher tunnels, but would be an issue in the northern sections. You can see all the scraps on the roofs of the tunnels north of 466 off of Buena Vista.

My advice to a person planning on moving to the Villages and purchasing a vehicle for the multimodal paths is to gather as much information as you can. But wait to make a purchase after spending some time here renting a cart and riding on the paths. What looks cool from afar might not be a good fit for your use in TV.

I still like my cart in post #2 on your other thread. I never use the air because I have lots of air flow and installed a metalized radiant barrier under the metal roof.

Yamaha width is 48”, Gem is 55”. Not much difference, but I’m not familiar with the bridge you referenced.

In order to be categorized, legally, as LSVs, they have windshield wipers, seat belts, can go 25-30mph, must be registered and insured, and the driver must have a valid drivers license.

Regardless of enforcement of the rules, those are the rules. And - if you were to get into an accident with a golf cart that is set to go faster than 20mph, whoever you hit would have a case to take you to the cleaners because you were driving the vehicle illegally.

In addition, an LSV can't legally cross 466, 466A, or 44. On 441 there is only one place to cross legally, and that's up at Stonecrest, which Villagers have no access to by golf cart (or LSV).

Untrue - allowance on the golf course is dependant on the type of tire not LSV classification.

Max speed by law 25mph. Like a golf cart, over 20 miles per our, illegal by law, LSV, over 25mph, illegal.

Honestly, golf cart will get you where you need to go and less expensive to insure. LSV is insured as an auto.

So, according to section (b) above, windshield wipers are not required? Does the windshield need to be safety glass?

The Gem is 15% wider than the Yamaha. 2 Yamaha’s can barely pass each other on the LSL bridge.
There are other places where 2 Yamaha’s just make it - part of the golf path on Megison Rd is another one that comes to mind.

The multi modal paths were built for golf carts, not LSVs.
Unless there’s a practical reason to buy one vs a golf cart, not sure it is worth the head ache it will cause driving it.
