There are certain self-serving experts on TOTV that attempt to denigrate posters who express their opinions with statements like show me your facts. Opinions are opinions of the poster. They are formed by life experience. We are all entitled to them without challenge. They may be wrong. Facts are not necessarily truths. It may be a fact that 55% of Scientists surveyed agree with a certain subject. Even though that fact may be true (Being that 55 % of surveyed scientists agree), that does not mean that what they agree with is true.
Recent posts regarding global warming or Climate change are examples. Some posters find some way of transitioning any topic to an argument on climate change. A big snowstorm in the southern hemisphere news article morphed into climate change.
So given that statement, I will state an undeniable fact that I was told today that my home cannot be insured by State Farm here in The Villages because it has a roof installed more than 15 years ago, (despite having 20-year guaranteed shingle on the roof that has been inspected as ok). That is a new qualification requirement. (Recall that what was I was told).
Looking for insurance options.

Why Posts are Deleted. Reminder that posts
with political content, any political comments,
will be deleted. It's not because the posts are
"conservative" or "liberal", it's because they
are political. No matter how nice or polite
they are, they will be pulled.
I see so many people complain that NextDoor
is against their political stance or party
because their posts are deleted. People who
think that their post isn't political when it
clearly is. To you it might be "common
sense"
or
"basic kindness" but to others it's
a political comment.
Let's try to keep NextDoor an open forum
where everyone is welcome and
conversations bring us closer together as a
community instead of a divisive quagmire
that erupts from political posts

The thread on the big snowstorm specifically asked, in the OP "how can global warming be true"
As to why people get vacations - that has not changed in a while, and on this board, the moderators tend to spread the fun around when politics or excessive rudeness appears.
It's nothing new. And as has been said over and over, it's Nextdoor or TOTV's ball, they get to make the rules.
And where does it say no one can challenge posted opinions? I welcome challenges, as long as the challenger either says, "this is my opinion" or "this is a fact and here is why".
EDIT: I just read an article that Truth Social is now banning people because they posted about some TV show yesterday. I guess the big purge is coming.

My experience here, with "vacations", is that the moderators tend to follow the rules, and not just randomly ban people. I have had a couple of justified vacations, others on the other side that I follow also have.
Seems to be a lot of persecution complex. Maybe the simpler answer is just that there are rules, and some don't like them.

I'm not in The Villages, yet, but my Nextdoor site is a hot mess now. The feed has a weird mix of current posts and posts from months ago. Some current posts are buried so far back in older posts that I'm positive that I never see them or if I do it's not until weeks or months after they originally posted.
I don't know what that's all about but it's annoying and I've heard plenty of other people complain about it so it isn't just my feed get messed up.

the only recourse is to start a chat group of your own, where YOU control the content. you can even disclose that all or certain points are welcome, while others are not. i dont go to nextdoor, but can imagine it must be a jumbled mess by the way members speak of it.

Not sure why you would ask insurance questions here. I would ask an insurance broker.
Far as insurance the risk is accessed by the company. You simply can not argue or appeal to logic-that is the company position. Not all companies have the same position.
All insurance companies do not use the same risk profile.
We tend to think I've been with the company for xx years never had a claim they should support me. The reality, we've used that company for xx years they know you do not shop around. Often they give a better rate to attract new customers than they give to customers who have been with them for a while.

I have been pulled off of next door several times but it's been my fault because I posted about poker. They do seem to have a really ridiculous artificial intelligence algorithm and one of the things that they have stated is that you must put in the link to your facts about covid. There are many spirited discussions about one side or the other on next door and I have never seen them deleted. For a while they were very zealous about closing discussions early. I talked about my experience with anti-semitism and I was closed after five posts and then someone else opened another one up about their relatives being killed in Germany during world war II at camps and that went on for hundreds of posts. Overall I can say they are a lot less strict than other blogs well you're not even allowed to joke about certain people. Next door has done excellent for me as I post a lot about collecting for the homeless of the forest. Keep in mind that private internet websites even though they are accessed by the public do not have the same constitutional rights that you would think talking in a public square would allow . New Jersey had a famous case to allow speaking and shopping malls by anyone and everyone but it is not the same for privately owned blogs and websites. Especially those that count on advertising revenue

It’s about time one of these websites stopped the childish behavior of the useless political commentary going around here. It’s such a waste of time, each side it not going to change their mind. The Villages has become home to some of the least politically educated folks in the nation. Both sides turn on the fake news channels that tell them what they want to hear and demonize the other side. The reality is neither side really knows what’s going on in Washington

Here is what it’s called….capitalism. The US was founded on capitalism. Everyone is for capitalism UNTIL someone gets their hands slapped for not following the rules. Individual Company’s have rules too. Their Board of Directors and executives create and enforce the company’s rules. If you don’t like a company’s rules, then don’t use them and/or create and run your own company with your own rules. Unlike communist country’s, the US government doesn’t tell corporations how to run their companies.

Nextdoor has a option to change the feed preference. You need to go into your settings and preferences and then feed preferences and set it to recent posts. For some reason Nextdoor started defaulting to top posts so it screwed up everyones feed. Plus changing this setting only lasts 90 days so when you notice it getting strange again you need to change it back to the recent posts.

Nextdoor has a political section where people can blather about stolen elections and such. They have that because politics are not allowed in the general feed. There are Nextdoor trolls who deliberately post controversial topics, having nothing to do with the original intent and reason for Nextdoor. I'm glad they get banned. If I was in charge more people would be, and before you say anything about Freedom of Speech, it protects you from the US government, if has nothing to do with not obeying rules you agreed to when you joined Nextdoor.

Congress doesn't even make its OWN website a public square. They decide when someone can and cannot post a comment, under what circumstances, on which topics.
"Social media" is a category, it's not an actual thing. Facebook, NextDoor, YouTube, Twitter, etc are all private property made available to public viewing, and membership-only participation. In order to post on them you must be a member. In order to be a member you must agree to follow the rules. You must accept that if they decide you aren't following the rules, THEY have the right to kick you off their platform. And you maintain the right to leave, if you don't like it.
NextDoor has a policy about not posting about politics, at all. If you comment about something you saw on TV, and that TV show was about politics, then by extension - you are talking about politics. Whether the information was factual or not, if it was about politics, then you violated NextDoor's policy.

How the Fukarwe Indians got their Name:
The Fukarwe Indians lived in Utah about 2,000 years ago.
They were a peaceful tribe and lived in Teepees on the prarie.
One day it started raining heavily.......and kept on raining.
The prairie started to flood and they were forced to move to higher ground.
And the rain kept coming......and the tribe had to move to higher and higher ground.
Until they found themselves at the top of a mountain.
And the Chief raised his hands to the Sky and shouted.

You've had over 6 years of it, not just the past two. Tribalism is strong here in the Villages, and they will insist that denial IS a river in Egypt and any other option is fake news. Where I come from (yep, pulling out that card again, deal with it), the idea of tribalism was "my family, my neighborhood, my town, my community." Here, it's "my political party, my political agenda, my religious pretense."
And - for those who say "just move back" - there are many people living here who came because they couldn't afford where they came from. That hasn't changed. If they could afford to move back - they probably would.
