I would to thank the Community Watch for keeping us safe. They called me at 3 in the morning to ask if I was okay and to tell me that my garage door was open. I am so grateful they are out there watching over us.

Glad you got the call, I had in the past (several years ago), but last week both garage doors were wide open and NO call.

In 2020, Community Watch performed 461,693 service actions, of which 7,793 were for open garage doors. So, that is about 21 doors per night.
Maybe everyone in The Villages should leave their garage door open tonight and see what happens.
(Just kidding)

So what can you do about that? Cannot close garage doors and run out while closing.

Some garage doors have an outside code pad.

Is it possible that many people don’t have phone numbers that are listed in the Villages Phone Directory? If they have “unlisted” cel phones how would community watch contact them? Not sure this is correct but thought I’d throw this scenario out there.

My number is not in the directory, but Community Watch has the number. I think they get it when you get your ID card.

Pull the release and let it down slowly.

I set up a light that comes on in the bedroom if the garage door was left open. All it took was a 12V DC transformer, a small 12v LED light and a magnetic switch.

I think I know what happened, my new phone (cell) has a Do NOT disturb function that I have turned on and it will only allow a call through on the 2nd or 3rd try in a few minutes, so I will apologize to community watch. No idea if there is work around for this function.

Most "do not disturb" features allow you to set an exception, such as your saved contacts, or a specific number. But, I don't know if Community Watch would always call you from the same number.
