We are in Fernandina, looking to buy and use a LP-Gas Fire Pit. (24"x24"x28").
It would be used on our outdoor patio, and would be 12'+ from any structures, etc.
It would not be inside a 'Birdcage', strictly outdoors.
Are there any restrictions on this type off appliance?
It is really no different than an LP-gas BBQ.
Anyone know where to get a qualified answer?
Thanks in advance.

Why would it not be ok? It sounds like a big step for you but I say go for it. You won’t need it until November so take your time

Not only ok, but preferred. Outdoor wood fireplaces are not allowed.

I would call Community Standards for a source to get accurate information.

OK, I'll bite. Where does it state outdoor wood fireplaces are not permitted?

I have friends with an outdoor wood pit.

Outdoor wood firepits are OK unless there is a fire alert. But one should be courteous to neighbors when placing it, and a windy day or night is usually not a good time.

Folks down the block from us have it and do use it. For me do not see a need.

I am a bit old fashioned.
If its too cold to sit outside, even with a coat on, why not go indoors and get warm?
Can't see the point of a fire outside a warm house.
Camping is a different story.

We would use this for enjoyment only, not for heat.
Called Community Standards ( correct # is 325-751-3912)
There is no restriction for this item as it is portable, not built in.
Will proceed with it, most likely starting in Nov.

One of the first things we did when we bought 3 years ago. Didn’t ask anyone, just did it. It is the backyard and we are fenced in so all is good. Love sitting out at the fire.

Hey I have a white cross in my front yard and it’s 6 inches outside the overhang of the soffit. Should I move it ? FARTHER OUT IN THE YARD!?:bigbow:

It's not just about the warmth, it's just a part of the whole experience. Can't beat the nice look and feeling of a backyard fire, looking up at the stars on a good night, and roasting the occasional hot dog or marshmallow on a stick once in awhile.

I am also interested in an LP firepit. I was told they use a lot of propane. What has been your experience?

LP is propane. Perhaps you're thinking of a natural gas firepit.

I've used one for years. "A lot" of propane is relative, as it depends on how many days a week you use it, and for how many hours each time.

They do blow through propane. We use exchange tanks and get maybe 3 nights out of a tank.

Not sure why a master plumber needs to be contacted. They are fully self contained units. Do you call the same people when you buy a new grill.

I suspect the poster who suggested that is thinking of the natural gas models where a hook up would need to be installed.
