My wife and I just completed our first week at the Villages. It was great! The activities that we enjoyed were pickelball, softball, hearts and bridge. My wife and I went to "government day" and learn a lot about the local government agencies. The art & craft show at Lake Sumter this weekend was very interesting to see. Our neighbors had a wine and cheese social get-together for us. Wow!! I can't wait for the second week.

TJ.... Sounds Great! We moved from Chicago to Germany a couple years ago [with work], then purchased a home in TV in May. We'll be there before Christmas..FULLTIME!

I hope our week one is as exciting as yours...

Later.....

TJ,

Congratulations on your first week in TV. I envy you! :). Where in Chicago are you from? Cubs or White Sox fan? If you live in city of Chicago, will you miss the mayoral election in February, or perhaps you don't care anymore about Chicago politics?

:welcome:

I am now in my thirteenth year in The Villages and I love it just as much as I did the first week I became a resident. There were 16,000 people living here then and there are 80,000 now. Where else could you possibly find a beautiful city like this where so many happy people live? Congratulations on choosing the best place in the country to enjoy the rest of your life. Next week will be wonderful and so will next year. May you make many happy memories here!

I live in Wheaton, and worked many years in Chicago. I was a Cubs season ticket holder for 10 years. I gave up!

Hi there VillagesFlorida!

Hope you continue to post on this forum. I think a person who has been here 13 years has seen it all and so glad to hear that you agree with us who are newer. We have owned our home here for two and a half years and every day I find something new to like!!

Hope both of you and TJ Chicago have seen my invitation to coffee at my house tomorrow, would love to meet you both!!

Thanks for posting, TJ -- our house in TV is built and just waiting for us to be there full-time in January. At the moment, I've been thinking about all that has to get done and limited time to do it. Your post gives me a motivating reminder that it will all be worth it! So far, the only stress I've heard about in TV is the daily decisions; pickleball or a new activity/interest? Golf cart or car?

Keep us posted!
