I remember going thru this scenario in the 50’s/60 same time we adopted under “god” in the pledge of allegiance and changed money to in “god we trust”. If the initial blast doesn't get you the radiation will. If your god is merciful death will be quick but we all know he Doesnt operate that way!

To start with what was posted:
GET INSIDE
- Fast
- Get into a building
- Move away from windows
STAY INSIDE
- Shut doors and windows
- Go to the middle of the building
- Get Clean Immediately
- Remove clothing and shower with soap or shampoo
STAY TUNED
- FollowMedia
- Sign up for Notify NYC
- Officials will send wireless emergency alerts (WEAs)
So, I see lots of "cheeky" comments. It is a news station, "slow news day?", it is good advice. Will it save everyone - nope. Will it save anyone - "maybe". And yes, I know, if anyone suggest that anyone should do anything that is not 100% effective, well, there is no point to it, is there?
If they do nothing they are criticized, if they do anything they are criticized.
I think we could shorten any post about NY or CA into "New York" or "California" period, and I am sure there would still be plenty of posts talking about what is wrong there.

I can't help it. I have bought a steelmaster desk. The one the teacher had.
If, my back was not such a mess I would duck and cover.
Perhaps, go down my basement but I don't have one.

rather than a snarky one liner, I will take your question seriously.
If you mean, on any given day, then streets are a big winner, since it has been a while since any Nuke was used in a war.
But, in absolute terms, Nukes have the ability to insure total annihilation of the human race.
So, in absolute magnitude Nukes win, in terms of practical impacts on our daily lives, streets have a bigger impact.
But, let's not forget there is a crazy in power with nukes threatening to use them frequently. We even had one here say, "Why have nukes if we don't use them" (paraphrased). So. maybe they are a realistic concern to everyone...

At least most of us are at the tail end of our lives so maybe if it comes to that incineration might be a little better than a long slow cancer ridden stay in hospice. NOW how is that for really making this stream even more morbid and depressing than it already is??

No Joke. Add this to the two other plans that have been drawn up, what to do if the nuclear plant is breached and their defense against dirty bombs.
For the power plant, They have been giving us potassium iodine tablets for a few years now (This is in NY about 30 miles from NYC.).
NYC also has many ways to tell if a dirty bomb is travelling throughout the streets.in the city. Frightening stuff, but it would be more frightening if we did not have plans.

Only in New York, a failing, corrupt city, would you see the 325,000 city employees waste even more money on this nonsense video. Someone needs to tell them that "in case of a nuclear attack", they will be vaporized instead of having the time to stay inside. Why would anyone bother to live in such a corrupt city wrought with crime and infestation?

correct. The agency is called n.e.s.t. They travel in normal everyday trucks and vehicles to search for nuclear threats in our cities in the sky, on the land and from the air.
