View Full Version : Standing in line for the Pool?

Drove down to Sawgrass (went to the new food court, drove around DeLuna, Fenny and as far south as possible) - was surprised to see people 20+ deep "standing in line" waiting to get into the pools (yes, more than one). Is that a capacity issue at the pools down there or was a special event going on? Had to be a family pool, kids were in the line. Seems strange since up Sumter/Brownwood way many of the pools were practically empty. Just curious, didn't see much down there that would make me want to move south.

Ever since I been in the Army, I hated standing in line even a chance to get into
other people's bathtub. :22yikes:

Are aerobics classes allowed in neighborhood pools? I thought only in sports pools.

Was it a neighborhood pool or sports pool?

My guess is sports pool.

Sports pools are the only ones that would have a wait time to get in as they count heads to be sure they are not over capacity. I've never seen a line at a neighborhood or family pool, there are lots of them down here and most are never crowded especially at this time of the year.

The pool at Ezell (Sawgrass) is a sport pool. Our neighborhood pool is never crowded and if it were there are plenty more to choose from. Come on down, the water’s fine.

That makes sense. I've seen lines of people waiting to sign in for a water aerobics class up north at one of the regional rec centers.

Ezell is a sports pool and yes they are waiting for a class. Glad people don't want to move south.

Not much else to do down there. The turnpike noise and views are great however!

Most activities in the villages have a capacity including water Aerobics and water volleyball which you have to arrive at least a 1/2 hour early to ensure you get a spot.

It was not stated if it was a community or sports pool but yes there have been lines for activities in those. Until the new bridge opens to make it easier to get to Everglades it’s going to be like that. So many people in the area ( St Cath, Cason Ham, Hawk, Brad and Chitty) will cause this.
Welcome to new areas of TVLGs

Sometimes there is a line at Fenney Family Pool, especially during Holiday weekends when people have families visit. It is a very nice, very popular pool. The limit is 78 people, and I’ve spoken to the staff in charge, monitoring the count and not letting anyone else in until someone leaves.

There's also lots of kids camp activities going on daily now too but I've never had to wait in line for a pool around here. 😊

We have lived here in Citrus Grove for a while and have never experienced a pool waiting line…Ever

Even New Year’s Day when we had the most people there was no line at all. It must have been some kind of Water Sporting event?

Everglades and Spanish Moss pools are sports pools and will have lines to get checked in to water aerobics and volleyball. Fenney pool is a family pool. I saw a line once there only because it was closed for maintenance or something and was just reopening, so people were lined up as they were waiting for it to open. Otherwise, never any lines.

To the person who thinks all regional rec centers only have sports pools, Fenney is a regional rec center and it's a family pool.

Also...yeah, we definitely all hate it down here, you won't like it, the constant traffic noise, the 24 times a day massive booms, prison escapes, nothing to do for miles and miles, and I am not sure what all the loofahs on the golf cars are about....save yourself, stay up north...

I've waited in line at the Ezell sports pool 45 min to make sure I got into the water aerobics class and the water volleyball basic training. There is a limit of 85 people for the aerobics class and I've seen people turned away. I've heard this happens at other sports pools. At Colony there is a sign up procedure so you don't wait in line if you don't get in on the sign up. But then you'll be priority for next time. May be why there are not lines there.

Yes. You wait in line usually at Regional pools for water aerobics because they check your ID and keep count because of capacity rules.

Why do you need a class to exercise? Can't you just jump in any pool and splash around vigorously to get the same exercise?

Or better yet, you could actually swim.
