Hear a new talk called "Climate Change Calamity" this Friday (July 29) at 4 PM at the Lake Miona Recreation Center. Learn about important climate studies that you will not hear about from the major news sources. These studies are published in scientific journals -- and yet the public hardly knows about them. One very important study is the $9 million NEEM Project from Greenland, which produced amazing climate change information.

Do we need tickets for this or do we just show up?

No tickets needed. This talk will be given at the regular Philosophy Club meeting -- which is open to all Villagers. There are no dues for this club -- and there's always a Q&A session after each talk.

Climate change is a fact (and well documented) but some still don’t believe it and listen to propaganda put out by special interest groups who have investment in “old energy”. That said, the “old” and “new” must co-exist for several more years until we can get enough of the “green” up and going to meet our needs. It’s called compromise - hard to achieve these days.

To quote Luke Skywalker from "The Last Jedi", "everything you just said is WRONG.
Climate change as it has been spoon fed to us by the government and media is a MYTH
Yes, the climate is changing---it is always changing. Currently it is getting warmer. It has been getting warmer for the last 20,000 years and will continue to get warmer for the next 15-20,000 years. Then it will start to get colder until 50,000 years from now Morth America is mostly covered in ice. That's the "well documented fact". The MYTH is that these changes are driven by burning fossil fuels, a lie designed to further an agenda. The FACTS are that these changes are driven by subtle changes in the tilt of the Earth's axis and its orbit. The propaganda IS put out by special interest groups----those that have some green energy fantasy agenda.
Now, to any of these fanatics that want to claim that the Earth's warming over the last 20,000 years (and 4 other times in the last million) is due to fossil fuel, I'll gladly believe the day you show me Fred Flintstone's SUV:1rotfl::1rotfl::1rotfl:

What is obviously incomprehensible to politicians is the situation as pointed out above is not one or the other. It is also not a compromise....which is nothing more than political positioning.
There needs to be a plan that phases out the old as it is methodically replaced by the new. Plans need leadership, authority, enforcement and measurable progress with specific accountability.
All requirements for successful implementation that are so very obviously either absent or incapable in the current environment.
Compromise not needed.....cooperative effort to make it work is the need.....hence the impediment of the day!!!

With all due respect, most scientists say that climate change is a fact. However, you have a right to your opinion. Strong opinions (fueled primarily by social media and cable media) is what makes compromise so difficult.

This talk is only about climate change. However, a great source of climate-related energy issues (old and new) can be found on DDEARS DOT COM.

Unfortunately the debate on climate change is being driven by extremists on both sides.
This is one of the best things that I've ever heard on climate change. Climate change is real but exactly how much of a problem is it?

I agree climate change is a fact, I just laid it out in some detail. It is NOT an "opinion". The MYTH is that human activity is driving it. Most of the scientists who claim that we are causing it are dependent on government grants for their research, and they are dependent on academia for their tenure, and we all know that the media, universities and the far left are all in sync on this issue. Go and read what well respected climatologists who are either retired or independent have to say and you'll get a whole different view. I suppose the true believers would call those scientists statements "opinions" while referring to those that fall in line with the agenda as "factual". Herr Goebbels would be proud.
So, once again, I'll issue the challenge: 20,000 years ago, NY City was under 2 miles of ice, now the ice is gone and it is warmer. Show me Fred Flintstone's SUV. It's hard to make this any clearer than that.
