"Just broke my ankle," has it been x-rayed? The report will state the extent of the damage. I'm sure they can give you a list of qualified people. For most of us you will want to check who takes your insurance. I've used Dr. Stirling Lakeside foot and ankle in Leesburg. I am a tough patient to deal with. I hate going to doctors. He is a podiatric surgeon. They are great people. They did well for me.

Generally speaking, one should always begin by logging into their medical insurance website account and then using it to search for in-network providers. Otherwise, skip that step and go with whatever reference you get from here and pay as fully as possible out of pocket.

I was in a golf cart accident and broke my wrist and had a compound fracture of my ankle. Dr. Goldstein of Orthopedic Institute in Ocala was the doctor assigned at the hospital. He is excellent. After two surgeries and a year later my ankle is as good as new.

Sorry you apparently had a poor experience there. I had my knee replaced through them, including PT afterward. A very good experience. I would use them again for the other knee when the time comes

I have been going to the Orthopedic Institute for years. I highly recommend them. They have repaired my shoulder, Achilles, elbow, knee (arthroscopic surgery with Marc Rogers), and broken finger. The fact that they are big and close is just evidence of a good business model. Why would I want to go to somebody small that is far away?

Dr. Floyd did a foot surgery for me locally. She is a no-nonsense person. If she can't fix it, she will send you to someone. It's an all-women office. My surgery was complicated and she did it with ease. Go soon. It makes sense that the body will start trying t fix it, so the longer you wait the more complicated it will get if its a bad break.

Dr. Cook and Dr. Williams at Advanced Orthopedic are by far the best and are so nice!

They are in the Sharon Morse building.

Dr. Cook did my knee six years ago, and I haven't had one issue since.

I do not have any experience with Orthopedic Institute. But, in terms of a surgery factory, that is modern, current medicine. Long gone are TV surgeons where one doctor does it all. Typically one doctor cuts it opened, another does the surgery and another closes it up. Teasing a bit-you wake up after anesthesia and the doctor says you did a great job. Tell em you slept through the whole thing-oh no you know Dave.

Years ago I fell and broke my ankle in 3 places. The ER doctor told me to call my clinic, which I did. This was up north and not here!!! The clinic made an app't with an ortho. dr. and from there I had a surgery to correct the breaks. I don't know that here you can' just call and make an app't without going through a primary first. They should be able to help you. If you broke it here---went to the ER---then the chain of command (so to speak) is to follow-up with your primary who should steer you to the right people.

I broke my ankle in 3 places in June! Dr. Tankson and Martha Olson (PA) out of UF Health Orthopedics have been fantastic! I highly recommend them. Dr. Tankson did surgery on me and they have been very helpful during the recovery process. Contact me if you have any questions.

LoL I had to have surgery to repair two breaks: The Orthopedic Institute on 441, Dr. Krueger did the surgery. The therapy was also done there. Both were professional and friendly. I recommend them

Best wishes in finding someone a competent dr that you trust and for the whole process. I have had a lot of foot surgeries ( not in FL) & they require patience. Its hard bcs you cant bear any weight while the bones are mending. This means you have to rely on others even for small tasks. If I was already moved to TV I would help you.

Wherever you may look, be sure to find out how many related surgeries they have done. A minimum of 250 would be my cutoff. You want experience, not a stepping stone on some resident's learning curve. Given existing pressures to lower healthcare costs, many such procedures are pushed down to the lowest/cheapest level of care provider, which often excludes those who are best at it. Don't compromise on experience.
