Can’t find anything about this on a search. Any recommendations on where to store our golf cart while our house is rented out? Thanks!

I would talk to a neighbor, this would have the advantage of storing the cart, and occasional use to keep the battery and gas in good shape. If this is not an option, then the smallest u store it type facility, add Stabil to the gas, add a battery tender, or remove the battery and add the battery tender at your house. The final option would be to leave the cart at the house, change the start/run switch to a unique switch and do the same as the storage facility. Add a clause to the rental agreement that the cart is NOT included and NOT to be used.

So I will just say, I have 2 rentals, and you get more renting out with the cart, especially in the off season. It is also better when people are driving the vehicle - no vehicle really stores well. I understand all the arguments about liability and all that, but 10 years of renting I feel they are overblown. That said, you can just leave it in the garage and not give them the key. There really is nowhere inside TV to store a cart. You might check with carts and Clubs in Ocala to see if they might store carts.

Agree with the above. When we rented, we only considered places that included the cart.

Places that include a cart and are pet friendly are the easiest to rent out and the hardest to find available to rent. Easy way to rent for a premium, especially during the slower months.

Imagine your renter let’s their 13 year old use the cart and they run someone over on a road or the multi-modal path. Their insurance probably won’t cover an under age driver, and possibly not a legal driver. You should check if your insurance would cover this, but from all the discussions about this issue in the past, I doubt it. Law suit to follow. Worth the risk??? At the very least have the renter sign a “legally binding” document detailing all rental issues that may arise.

Never have had any luck with sta-bil. Clogged my lawn mower terribly. Better to run it down almost empty.

I've been using Sta-bil for as long as I can remember and never had a problem. I have had gas in a can up at my hunting camp for over a year that was still good. It was most likely your ethanol gas that gummed up your mower by not having enough Sta-bil mixed in it.

The red sta-bil is better than nothing, but doesn’t work very well. The more expensive blue marine grade sta-bil is a good additive for gas with ethanol, but star tron is probably the best fuel additive widely available at Walmart, Tractor Supply, or any auto parts store. That being said, no fuel additive works as well as simply using ethanol free gas with no additive at all.

We store ours at Rt 44 Storage on Rt 44 just before you get to Brownwood. Our cost was around $120 a month. If coming from the southern end of the Villages turn left off Morse or west as my husband tells me.

Leave it in your garage.
Take the battery out and store the battery at a neighbor.

We rented our place to a local person for the summer. Golf cart not included and it was loved in our golf cart garage. The guy went through your personal tubs in the corner of the closet and found the golf cart key. He drove it all summer. He even sold our dining room table. It’s been a few years ago but we never rented again. We even had references for him. You may as well include the golf cart. Don’t take all the advice on here as gospel. Call your insurance company. Make sure they know you’re renting your house so you are covered. Progressive has great and inexpensive golf cart insurance.

How about buying a steering wheel lock and leaving it in your garage? Or in a neighbor’s garage who has space?

I store my cart every year. I use a storage facility. I disconnect the battery that's it. The gas is no issue. It always starts. Just disconnect the battery don't do anything else. I do this for months at a time 3 to 8 months I have stored it. Always starts right up!

Do not store small engines containing ethanol gas. Gums them all up.
Either run the last couple of tanks with ethanol free gas, or drain the tank, then run the engine until or stops

When I rented they included a rental cart and had theirs under a gold cart cover in the garage with a lock on it. If you are storing a gas cart. Buy golf cart gas not regular gas or make sure to put in stablizer.

Holy Moly $120 a month!?! Wowza!! Storage facilities must be very expensive here in FL. We rented a mid size storage room, climate controlled, in Ohio in 2017 for about $60/month. That’s more than inflation, must cost more here.

The Villages has two open air RV storage lots that accept cars and carts for storage as well. They are in the North area, above 466 but are reasonable and accessible.
