Welcome to you CSB1228. Are you from Timber Pines? Where is Timber Pines? I thought that The Villages had that title. That is a lotta golf carts!!!!! AND I am sure it was something to see!!!:coolsmiley:

Sit a spell and someone will tell you why we probably had more fun than Timber Pines.

Most of us are crazy about our home town.

If you do a Google search you will find several articles about this golf cart parade record that was set in March 2004. The actual number of carts was only 1,138. The NPR article reported 11,000 but that was obviously incorrect.

That is correct 1,138.

The 2008 Guiness book of records has the record as 3321 in The Villages Sept 4, 2005. http://books.google.com/books?id=rbZMg7CGnKYC&pg=PA158&lpg=PA158&dq=guinness+world+record+for+longest+golf+cart+par ade&source=bl&ots=oO9KKnFq5_&sig=bszOpAv6NwU60V_tsIcBD8osS0k&hl=en&ei=IYbdTKamLYT48Abgj_UU&sa=X&oi=book_result&ct=result&resnum=8&ved=0CE4Q6AEwBw#v=onepage&q&f=false

You'll see elsewhere on TOTV that there is another attempt (Nov 14) to break our own record. http://www.golfthevillages.com/whatsnew/ParadeRegistration.pdf

Where have all the cart owners gone, long time passing? When will they ever sign-up? As of this past Wednesday, the registration list at(www.golfthevillages.com) indicates less than 1700 carts, about 50 % of the old record and far from a new one.

And, having participated in the 2005 effort, I'm signed up for Sunday's try at breaking our own record.

I am concerned, however, that the venue chosen this year may be inadequate for the number hoped for. We shall see.

Hi CSB,
Welcome to TOTV!

If you listened to the NPR report, it stated that the 2004 record was more than 1,100 carts, not 11,000. The tag line under the audio report apparently is a typo. As Russ pointed out, the Timberlake record was shattered by The Villages community in 2005 with more than 3,300 carts.

According to Golf-Tinkerer though, we're in danger of resting on our laurels. Oh, how I wish I were in TV to participate in the Nov. 14, 2010 parade!!

Swrinfla, I was not here in 2005. How has the venue changed? I would like to see the record broken, and plan on being there the 14th. I hope lots of others do too.

I am from the Villages, and after some more searching I found that the "11,000" carts was really around 1100 carts. The Villages has the record at 3391 set in 2005.

2010's world record longest golf cart parade attempt looked to be around the Villages High School's various parking lots and buildings.
