View Full Version : Closet Wire Shelving
EDIT: I FOUND MY SHELVES. THANKS TO VILLAGETINKER
We have a couple of damaged wire shelves in our closet that need to be replaced. I cannot find anywhere that sells the same brand. The end wall braces are Rubbermaid, so I assume the shelving is also Rubbermaid. I've checked out Lowes, and Home Depot, but they only sell Closetmaid which do not "match" the rest of the closet.
Does anyone have an idea where I can locate some Rubbermaid 16-inch shelving? I only need two 22-inch long pieces. TIA

How old is your house? It seems the wire rack manufacturers like to change styles every couple of years. You might end up having to go with whatever is closest to what you have.
Robert Manning does a lot of the initial installs in TV. You might give him a call and see if he has any of the older stuff in his warehouse.

Amazon sells Rubbermaid shelving, but it may not match what is in your house. Are you sure it is 16 inches wide? Mine are all 12 inches.

Sixteen inch is used if they put in an upper shelf for storage.

Yes I need 16-inch. It's for a set of 5 shelves that go from the floor up installed by The Villages. They are just 22-inches wide, and used mainly to hold small things in the closet.
The remainder of the closet has the standard 12-inch wire shelving.

I believe i have exactly what you are looking for, we took ours our 2 years ago. Send me a PM so I can give you a call. I think I have 5 shelves. These are 16 inches deep, and I think 24 inches wide, but can easily be cut to 22 inches.

Ace Hardware has the Rubbermaid brand shelving. Not sure about other locations, but the Wildwood store does not cut it to fit, you’ll need to cut it yourself

Call Custom Home Closet
352 748 9181 on 301 in wildwood
I had a custom closet installed a few months ago and when they were removing my wire closet they asked if I wanted it or should they take it
He commented that they had loads of wire closet pieces and if I ever needed.a piece for my other closets I know where to go
I hope you get it

I already visited the Ace Hardware in Wildwood, and the other in Fruitland Park.
No Luck.
The VillageTinker thinks he might have what I need.

Cut a piece of your shelving about 2 inches wide, and take it with you to Home Depot, Lowes and Ace Hardware, and see if any of them match what the retailer is selling. Easiest way. Another way is to call a company that does closet remodeling and see if they have any wire shelving that they removed from one of their projects. Lastly, advertise in the want ads. Lots of people are DIY'ers and may be able to help you.

Another option is to check thrift stores and Habituate for Humanity Store, I know when we had our closets done, thats where they company that did ours said they do with the stuff they remove.

Call Wayne Lovoy at Custom Closets, 352-702-5288. I upgraded all of the closets in our house, and Wayne provided all materials needed (Rubbermaid). If you provide him with the sizes you need, he will cut them to length for you. You pay by the lineal foot of the shelving, and he even throws in all of the mounting hardware you will need. It winds up being MUCH cheaper than Lowes or Home Depot, plus you get exactly what you want. Wayne is a great guy.

Papa, or anyone else, come over to my garage. I have all the wire shelving that was in my house when I bought it from the original owner in 2017. I took it all down and had built-in closets put in. Not cheap, but it looks a heck of a lot better than the wire shelves. Regardless, I have a lot of wire shelving in my garage. You will be doing me a favor if you come over and take it away, free.

All, the wire shelving I had was exactly what the OP was looking for, I even had the original metal rod corner support. He picked up the parts this morning, and I am guessing these are already installed.

Yup… already installed. 😊

Call Home Warranty and they can tell you what was originally installed in the home. All you need is your Unit and Lot or often just your address.
