So how do they treat passengers who get COVID on the cruise?
Many of the people I know are returning from cruises with COVID. And they spent most of the cruise confined to a 78 sq ft cabin with no view. Food dropped outside their doors.
I'm not assuming the increased risk cruising with the 30% not vaccinated - so they just lost me.

Inevitable. And more than about time.
Our cruising has been on hold; I had the bug in late 2020 and was (subsequently) vaccinated. My wife had COVID the same time I did but cannot take vaccinations as she has a very severe reaction when she does (last one, a flu vaccination about 5 years ago, landed her in the ER with pneumonia and a 103 degree temp.), so this decision on the part of RCCL, though significantly tardy in my opinion, frees her up to cruise.

It is more likely an unvaxed person will have the virus, and probably board even if they know they have the virus.
Ask what will happen if you get the virus on board.

Yes------MANY PEOPLE :1rotfl::1rotfl::1rotfl:
Mortality rate = 0.0027% (not necessarily caused by vaccine but in correct time course)
Anaphylaxis rate = 5/million
Sore arm = 3% (hardly serious)
All serious reactions : Vaccinated with mRNA against COVID = 1%
Vaccinated with placebo =1%

We just finished a cruise and have 2 more booked. I am Vaccinated and boosted. I have hade Covid twice. Once in early 2020 and 3 months ago. My symptoms were a runny nose. I do not worry about Covid whether on the cruise or anywhere else. I go to the Rec centers for crowded events and enjoy going to the squares to dance. If you are Immune compromised I can understand your caution. If not at what point do you say to yourself, I have been vaccinated and boosted and it’s time for life to go on and enjoy.

Current, people are vax’d getting covid from other vax’d people at a high rate. Natural immunity is high. I get tested every 3 to 4 months for my antibody level and it has not come down at all in 2 years! Since my vax’d friends still getting covid, I will not be getting vax’d and mess up my bodies ability to create its own immune system. I’ve never in my life had a flu shot and have not had the flu in over 20 years. There’s no one right decision for everyone. Since you can get covid just as easily from a vax’d person, it’s none of anyones business what others decide. There’s no excuse to lie if you’re currently sick…. Vax’d or not but if you’re currently non sick and healthy, no one puts you at a bigger risk based on their private vax choice.

Your wife is likely allergic to albumin-based vaccines, as am I.
This vaccine is NOT albumin-based and is the only one I can take. I have a masters in biochemistry so I did what REAL scientists do…research. Easy to test for the albumin sensitivity

What kind of doctor is ordering "antibody levels" every 3-4 months????? Let me guess: A "holistic doctor", a chiropractor, or a nutritionist. Quack, quack, quack. There are multiple anti-COVID antibodies, some of which confer immunity and some of which do not. I don't believe the full antibody panel is even available commercially. Short answer: The "antibody test" is essentially useless other than a wallet biopsy for the "provider"

Suggest to verify you get to stay in that balcony room rather that a 78 sq ft cell on the med deck, maybe without a window, if infected on board.
My point is the unvaccinated are 5-10 times more likely to catch COVID, increasing my risk to get there infection on board and end up running my cruise.
I also believe as several posted in this thread, the anti-vaxers don't care about anyone else and are far more likely to board with and not isolate when they have an infection.
So no cruises for me.

Transmission of and Infection With COVID-19 Among Vaccinated and Unvaccinated Attendees of an Indoor Wedding Reception in Minnesota
[
Key Points
Question What are the characteristics of SARS-CoV-2 infection and transmission among vaccinated and unvaccinated attendees of a large indoor gathering?
Findings In this cohort study of 75 individuals, nearly half of attendees at an indoor wedding reception who were tested were infected with the Delta variant of SARS-CoV-2. Unvaccinated attendees had a higher risk of SARS-CoV-2 infection than vaccinated attendees, secondary transmission from vaccinated attendees to vaccinated and unvaccinated contacts was observed, and the index case was identified as an unvaccinated symptomatic child.
Meaning These findings suggest that unvaccinated people are at increased risk of contracting SARS-CoV-2 compared with vaccinated people in large social gatherings.
35% of the vaccinated vs 95% of the unvaccinated testing positive.
...
"Fully vaccinated attendees had a lower risk of developing symptoms or testing positive, and the only hospitalization was among an unvaccinated adult, supporting previous data showing reduced risk of infection and severe illness among vaccinated individuals."

From that article:
"Conclusions
In this cohort study of an outbreak investigation, a large outbreak of the Delta variant of COVID-19 occurred, even with a high proportion of vaccinated people at the event. This investigation found a high rate of vaccine breakthrough infections with the circulating Delta variant. However, unvaccinated wedding attendees were 2.6 times more likely to be infected with SARS-CoV-2 compared with vaccinated attendees. The only illness severe enough to require hospitalization was in an unvaccinated adult. A symptomatic child was identified as the index case. Multiple mitigation measures may be needed to protect against transmission of highly contagious variants of SARS-CoV-2 in large social gatherings when community rates of transmission are elevated, even when a high proportion of attendees are vaccinated."
So not the 5-10 times more likely you had claimed.

Been on three cruises since we felt safe to cruise again and on each cruise a small number of people walked off the ship with the virus.
This is with taking precautions and making sure everyone had been boosted and tested positive within two days of the cruise.
Will make the previous small number into a much much larger one.

That post is really very arrogant. One could say that demanding everyone get the shot, including healthy younger people and those with natural immunity because you are at risk is the epitome of selfishness. I am a high risk patient should I get covid. I take precautions and do not demand children and others get a shot that may have adverse effects on them. In my opinion it would be wrong of me to insist a 20 year old get a shot when the risk benefit to them is not clear.I guess some would say I Care about children and healthy young adults. Of course what I am hoping to get across is that assigning some sense of morality, or lack of morality, because someone disagrees with your view is not quite so black and white.

The topic of this thread is removing vaccine requirements for cruising. This seems unwise given 80% of cruise ships reported "green" six months ago where today it is 0%.
They are sending people back sick, adding risk to people like you yourself.
