I know now that I have NOT seen it all. Hubby and I were leaving LSL today in our car on the main road heading for the Morse Blvd circle. Parked along the road was a golf cart (among others). OK, that is a normal occurrence. It gets better..............
As we were driving past the golf carts, an adult male curled himself up and crouched in the back of the golf cart where the golf clubs would be placed. He then grabbed onto the strap that holds the golf clubs and the cart pulled out of the spot and drove behind us. There were two adults in the front of the two seater cart and I guess a third adult just wouldn't fit in the front seat with them. LOL. Talk about dangerous!!!! OMG. I cannot believe anyone would do that let alone the driver of the cart would allow that. YIKES!!!!!!

Have noticed 2 young children about 8ish standing strapped in where clubs belong with grandparents driving, kids waving. Guess grandparents took the heart that the first one’s a throwaway. So maybe the second one was a keeper hopefully

Golf clubs are priceless, if it’s safe enough for one’s golf clubs then it’s gotta be safe enough for a person : )

To think, some of us survived growing up without seat belts! I saw someone driving a motorcycle without a helmet on his head the other day. Pretty sure he was in his 70's, unless he is just weather aged. Seriously though, I often wonder why I see some guys driving golf carts with their leg hanging out the side.

After years of working on bike accident victims, I get those who choose not to ride with a helmet. In some cases the helmet saved them brain injury, but it didn’t stop them from being a quadriplegic or paraplegic. Some would choose death over those circumstances.
As far as the knee issue, take a look at their physique usually their gut is so large there’s just no room to keep their legs together.

One time I was inside the zone with the president. The Secret Service wouldn’t let us walk and they made us ride standing on the back. I commented if we did this at a golf course, we would get kicked out, at best.

The guy in back was probably the husband. The family dog gets to sit in the front seat while the wife drives ;-) :-)

what think Villagers?
has anyone ever successfully reported things like this to the police?

Helmets not required in Florida, but then again neither are masks.

I’ve often done that at equestrian events—standing on the golf bag area and holding onto the roof. But we were never going 20 mph. It’s a bit like riding a chariot. Safer than riding a horse and jumping over fences.

When I was a little girl, I used to grab the 86th street crosstown on East End Ave and let it pull me to York, when I would grab one headed east to pull me back. Good times.

I would if the guy fell off and I ran him over, so I could file an insurance claim to fix the cart!

I have always told my kids that they need to pay attention as they get older. They will then have to question how some people actually make it to retirement age. Lots of people have very few brain cells

Ask yourself this about wearing a helmet on a motorcycle.
What about your back, arms, legs?
Helmets only help to protect from brain damage, (mostly).
Wearing helmets on a motorcycle is like "having a peeing section in a swimming pool."
Living in Wisconsin during a weeklong Harley Davidson birthday bash in Milwaukee, a cyclist was on radio said he refuses to wear any helmet.
He claims if he was in an accident, he wanted to die then to be feed through a straw.
To each his own, I guess.

I saw a young couple in a golf cart where the wife (very heavy) had a very young child on her lap (not all that unusual) but she had a seat belt around the child and her!
All I could think of is what would happen if they got into an accident. She would slice that kid in half!

From your description of the woman, perhaps there is enough cushion to help protect the kid?

From the posts you would think no one has ever done anything stupid.
I have a scar where I split my thumb longitudinally. Perhaps, a reminder when you THINK I should not do that it is usually correct.
Guys with leg hanging out. Guys are not made like women are.

Who would be at fault if that type of accident happens? The guy who fell off the back of the cart or the driver who accidentally runs over him? I know for sure that if it were me driving behind a cart with a person on the back, I would put a lot of car lengths between me and that cart.

If something happens, if you can't stop you are in the deep and murky. They will try to pin you for following at an unsafe distance.

While not the most safe, I think we have been conditioned to what safe is.most of us used to not think twice about riding in the back of a pickup on the highway. If the drivers are careful and 3rd passenger holding on is also, that is probably much safer than an electric scooter.

More than likely, he was actually safer than the folks in the front that most likely did NOT have seat belts. He was holding on, they probably were using their hands to talk.:girlneener:

All it would take is for that cart to be hit by a vehicle and I doubt that guy would continue to grip those straps. He would have been ejected from that cart in the event of an accident. I would bet money on it.
