.... is this some sort of attempt at a pity plea to get one?
BTW - there are applicants that have sat on the "wait list" for what appears to be going on 7, 8, 9 years now and are still no where near close to getting in. Despite the cool Villages adverts and all the big money spent on not 1, but 2 shops, its a locked down old boys club that simply does not want, and thus have set it up to really not allow, any new members. Its one of the most 'tardedly ran things we've come acrossed here.
Literally, and that's saying alot.
I believe IMMSMC, there was even legal action taken at one point, to no avail, by a guy who had some +/- 200 people in front of him, after sitting on the list for a like a decade.
So, sadly dear fellow WW enthusiast, if you're asking for a "fee membership" because you no longer have wood working equipment, you'll need to get in line. Its a long line that doesn't appear 'to ever move.
Most of us will probably be dead, or near dead before our turn to 'get in' even comes up.

It looks like he edited a lot out because I thought it was either here, or on Facebook, he had said that he had given away all his equipment and had gotten into the woodwork club (how, I don’t know) and decided it wasn’t for him so he was offering to “give” his membership to someone who couldn’t otherwise afford to join. Not sure how that would work exactly. It’s possible this isn’t the same person but the post I am thinking of started out that exact same way.
I’m sorry to hear your assessment of waiting list times. When my husband and I put our names on the wait list we were told 5-6 month wait. Jerry (Jerry and Linda, Villages Newcomers) said he waited around 6 months.

You clearly have some incorrect information. First of all, there was no waiting list until 2018, hardly a decade ago. Secondly, there are no requirements to join other than being a Villages resident with an interest in woodworking. You do not have to "know somebody" and it's not a closed club. Lastly, everyone who got on the waiting list prior to 2022 has been contacted at least once by phone and by email asking them to join. Many on the list ask to postpone joining due to other commitments, illness, travel, etc. Many are seasonal residents who cannot join until they get back to The Villages. The VWC certifies a dozen new members each week so please get your facts straight before speaking.

Since so many people want to use it but can't, they should have one day a week where it is reserved for non-members. I doubt if most people that are members go there 7 days a week.
