This is the info I have received from the district on the costs for the new district.

$124 per roof same as current
0.75 mils on market value minus land value of home
0.71 mils current estimated cost county is adding to the general fund for The Villages Fire department, to be backed out of county tax bill. So a 0.04 mil increase.

New fire stations currently paid for by developer will be paid for by an additional 1 mil tax until they are paid off. Bringing the total increase to 1.04 mils if the county does indeed back out the 0.71 mils otherwise 2.56 mils. The 0.75 plus the 0.71 plus the additional 1 mil for building new stations.

The ambulance and fire service will be the same whether an independent district is approved or the county funds them.

I can only see this as costing more for the same service.

Infrastructure should be paid for with impact fees including fire houses.

Infrastructure will not be paid for by impact fees. Sumter County only assesses road impact fees and those are rather small.

0.71mils is far less than we are currently paying for fire protection, regardless of what the tables show.

$124 a roof? How many fire calls do they respond to a year.?
