This morning, Gail Evans (352-874-1504), the VLS agent who sold us our house in 2015 called and asked if we were still up north and was there anything she could do for us, such as take furniture in or whatever.(Hurricane Ian)

The purchase of our house was the only transaction we ever had with Gail and limited contact since.

The buying experience was painless, we had some specific criteria and she worked to, and was able to meet them. I have never posted about Gail before and probably won’t again, but she is more than worthy of note.

So what has your VLS or MLS agent done for you lately?

Ours gave us some kind of throw thingee. I hear about parties, nice folding chairs, coolers that other agents give. Besides the throw we got the standard 50 bucks off a address sign.

Lisa Marie Puccio has thrown outings for her customers, parties, recently a night of Glow Golf, trips to the Polo Grounds.

Lisa has a great memory of us, at Glow Golf she went around the entire party and introduced each couple by name, where they live and the model house they bought.

From memory.

She was and continues to be an awesome friend and advocate for The Villages.

Our Village Agent, Mark Kennedy, drove by our house just to make sure everything was secured today. Removed our sign and texted us where it was. Our parties have been at Regional centers, and polo matches, all catered with great BBQ.

Haven’t heard a word from our MLS agent.

Mine was Patricia Minnihan. Hosted parties every year, except for the last couple. The one at the Polo fields was awesome. Great realtor to have

Mine was Eva Kennedy. I never felt so unrepresented. Haven't seen here since. I would not recommend her or her partner at Realty Executives of the Villages. Such a shame because there are so many good agents in The Villages.

Lili Whittington, Whittington Real Estate, 954-235-4766 found on Redfin helped get all of the items out of our house—everything was unexpectedly left by the previous owner as it was suppose to be completely empty. Her entire family helped and brought it to a church. She helps us with whatever we need (i.e., lawn service, restaurants, etc.). She actually stored our car that was transported on her property for four weeks! Had parties that we were not able to attend. She is amazing! I can’t say enough good things about her.

I have not heard a peep from ours, even asking after asking for some assistance with a warranty issue we were having at the time. Glad to hear others have a better experience.

It was 13 yrs ago...our agent was with TV and her name was Karen something. She left her position after we purchased our house. We'd been told to look her up once we got things settled "up north" but when we tried, found out she'd gotten married and moved. So didn't get any "perks". Have heard the stories about others though being wined/dined etc.

The first house we bought we had built and we were living in VA. Carl Pheil had a photographer take pictures since we couldn’t be there and then made it into a hard bound book. He has barbecues at the polo grounds and golf cart poker runs with food and prizes. He is currently selling our house so we can do as a lot of villagers do and buy a new one. The house we are selling is an Ivy in the Village of Linden. If your interested you can call Carl or ask your realtor to call 352-753-4000.

Our agent, Tim Cowart (from TV) also contacted me several days ago and offered to assist with storm prep. He moved outside furniture and a BBQ into our garage. I am incredibly grateful and frankly was surprised that he thought of us. I did not anticipate this type of post sale support but must say it was a truly welcomed surprise, particularly from somebody who is typically compensated by their next transaction.

If you are reading this - THANK YOU Tim!!!

Stay safe all

I won't mention our realtor's name but suffice it to say she was lousy. As soon as we signed on the dotted line, she disappeared. Wouldn't answer emails, phone calls or texts. I even referred 2 other parties to her who bought homes with her and same thing with them. She even said she needed to take us to lunch or something for the referrals. Nothing!! Although we did get an insulated cooler bag with her name on it at closing (and she wasn't even there for that!!) We get mailers from her still touting her success at selling homes and showing the latest one she's sold and asking us for our business if we're ready to sell!! Guess what?? She won't see the back end of us ever again!!

We did work with what we thought was a good agent at Realty so would not say they are all bad.

Not fair to put all in the same category based on one bad experience.

Interesting statements about sales agents. Ours did an outstanding job of matching us with our home, left a nice gift and had a great barbecue the following year. Beyond that, what else should he have done? Guess we didn’t need hand-holding. We moved on into our lives here. 🧐

Our VLS agent (Stacey Carter (352) 874-4223) was extremely helpful during the process, never tried to 'sell' or even show us anything that didn't meet our interests, lots of follow-up and information even after we closed. We bought in Virginia Trace in the end of 2021 when the market was crazy, and her advice and assistance was instrumental in ensuring we got the location and house we really wanted, and at a great price. She still stays in contact, has invited us to events, etc. She was a personal referral from a friend who bought in Dunedin, and she lived up to the recommendation - nothing like the horror stories I read here. We didn't buy from our MLS agent, so once we were no longer looking through them that conversation stopped.

Like so many others above, our VLS rep, Michael Veri has been in regular contact with us for 6 years. He has given me leads on where to buy "stuff," invited us to several Customer parties, and has been a friend to us. In fact, I have not heard a negative report on ANY of the VLS reps. I couldn't ask for more.

Our agent did a wonderful job in helping us secure our home in 2011. Unlike the 'average', we were picky as we wanted a forever home.....and that is what we got. In addition, our agent and spouse became very good friends. We have contact with the agent almost every week.
The answer is to get an agent you like, that performs for you, and above all you trust.

I have to agree with the original post about Gail Evans. She has been so wonderful and all the things that other realtors have done, so has she, and beyond. She has done so much for me and has been so generous. She also went to look at chairs I wanted to buy and paid for them. (I too paid her back of course) We became very friendly where we go to dinner with her and her husband. She also called to check on my house since im up north right now. I LOVE her! I always recommend her to people.

We used Beth Pope at The Villages , great lady, found us our first home within a few hours, a few years later got us in on the ground floor price for a investment villa and recently sold it for us yielding a very handsome profit. She also had the parties at Katy Belle's, etc., until Covid hit and she sends gifts but most importantly she keeps us informed as to what is new in The Villages on a regular basis. I would highly recommend her and would use no one else.

Unfortunately we had a bad experience with our realtor from the Villages. We used the same realtor that my sister had used.

He eventually sold our old house in the Villages and we eventually bought a new house in the Villages through him.

Everything went sideways in both the selling of our old house and the buying of our new house.

After we finally moved into our new house we informed him that we wanted no more contact with him.

I know this sounds like another rant and raving on TOTV but I am only stating the facts.

I am very happy to hear so many people are good experiences and that is the way it should be. I would just like to caution everyone to beware and hope you have good experience.

Either we had the same female agent or there are two. Ours went dark even before we closed, with issues prior and during our closing.

While stopping in a random open house, we met Mark Kennedy. A agent who cares about their clients is a game changer.

Unfortunately we did not have a good experience with a Villages realtor. We had purchased three other properties in Florida with a realtor, from our home in PA. She videotaped while walking thru the homes, and told us important information that would help in our decision process. We very happy with the properties we purchased through this realtor. When we started to look in the Villages we were limited to what she could show us; so… we ended up using Wayne Machol. Unfortunately he did not tell us the kitchen cabinets had been painted, or that the taxes were based on “homestead” rate (even though I asked), among other things. We had been “lulled” into trusting realtors by having purchased 3 properties from an honest realtor. Mistake
And what are all these BBQ’s and parties you all mention? We didn’t have any of that?

Patricia Minnihan sold us our courtyard villa, and when we decided to move here permanently, she handled our purchase of a larger house. She's the best!!

Mine ended up being promoted to one of the sales managers, which meant spam e-mails twice a week so I finally "unsubscribed." But when we bought the house, he was our "buyer's agent" and not the sales agent. He gifted us with a pair of Tervis tumblers, a really nice thick sturdy thermal bag, a pair of beach towels in bright day-glo colors, (all with the Villages logo) and the $50 house sign certificate.

Our long distance purchase was seamless. There was some furniture we wished to purchase from the seller including an electric fireplace, but they were auctioning off everything. Much to my surprise, when we finally moved in, there was a similar, nicer electric fireplace that Kathy found, purchased & moved in for us. She said it was the 1st “housewarming” gift that truly lived up to its name! She & her husband Tim have helped us in many ways, including spending a few hours at the end of our move helping us move boxes, hauling off items so we could get our car in the garage before a much needed trip back home. Tim even did free notary work on the sale of my husband’s home in TN. They are 2 awesome people with a lot of care & energy.
