Caution when considering Lake Centre for Rehabilitation.

I went to the Brownwood office in early August for PT on my hands. The initial staff I saw was knowledgeable, had good credentials, and I told the scheduler that I wanted to see only her, I asked that if her schedule changed to change mine rather than seeing someone else. The first treatment day went well. The second treatment day I was told I was to see someone else. This therapist was not as good as the first; I asked her to reiterate my request that I see no one else but the initial lady. I was seen by the initial therapist the next time; the visit was helpful. The next time I went I had been placed with yet another therapist, who was only fair at best. So I cancelled any further visits. Continuity of care is very important to me. Lake Centre for Rehabilitation was unable to provide continuity of care, even tough it was repeatedly requested.

Sorry your experience was less than you expected. My wife, who was a nurse for 40 years went there after a total knee replacement. She only saw two different therapists who she said were some of the best she’d ever seen. And she’s been through a lot of rehab over the years. I guess it’s luck of the draw.

This seems to happen with physical therapy at all the places.

Even worse at most the therapist works with 3-4 people at a time and goes from one to another.

I am 77 years old and have had intermittent minor back pain for over 40 years.

My doctor referred me to Physio Med on North Faulkner Street in Leesburg and I have had nine rehab sessions with them. I have been very, very pleased with the treatment they have provided.

I agree with VA above. After surgery for a broken thigh bone I was given a prescription to Physio Med. For the entire two months of therapy I only saw one therapist, and I credit him for getting me up on my feet. At the time I went there it was a roomy new facility on 466 at Rolling Acres.

Before and since, I've been to Lake Rehab several times for other, less traumatic, problems and experienced the switching of therapists, although it seems to have gotten better over the years. I was sent to Cora once but didn't go back after the initial evaluation. It was too small and crowded in my opinion.

I've figured out that the normal procedure is for a fully credentialed therapist (Dr. of Physical Therapy?) to initially evaluate the patient. Then the patient is turned over to staff who are physical therapy assistants and may or may not have gained a lot of experience.

That is what Cora did when my wife went there.

Very common with Physical Therapist who may also work with several patients at the same time.

My experience there was the same. I believe the initial visit is with a physical therapist who creates a plan of treatment. You are then turned over to a PT assistant and they float around to multiple patients. I’ve not had that much PT in my life but I’ve always worked directly with a PT, not an assistant. I dropped out after 3 visits. Fortunately my problem is resolving in its own but I’ll probably avoid Lake Rehab in the future.

I doubt that you will find any medical facility that will guarantee "continuity of care".

Third round of visits over three years to Lake Rehab at Colony for golf related back therapy. High marks to PT Tammie Stone, the best hands I've experienced through a long amateur athletic life that included ice hockey, soccer, skiing, tennis, marathoning and now golf. If only my golf instructors were this good!
