My wife and I plan to take a cruise next May, out of Ft. Lauderdale. Our cruise will finish in Southhampton, England.
I would like to rent a car to drive from TV (we live South of 44) to Ft. Lauderdale. I've never rented a car from point A to B and just wonder if there are Rental Car businesses near the Ft. Lauderdale Cruise Terminal and if they offer a shuttle to the ship? Would appreciate an info. I would like to rent the car the day before we make the trip to Ft. Lauderdale and return it that day. Thanks!

Florida Rental car companies had a rule that no in state drop off charges would be incurred if dropped off at the same Rental companies facility…I’d call directly Uber will drop at Cruise Terminal

While I know that you inquired about car rentals, did you consider the Yankee Trails bus?

Although rental cars are unique to Florida maybe if you called Enterprise, Hertz... They may give you accurate information. I'm surprised your travel agent didn't provide this information.

I have done this many times prior to COVID. And yes the rental car companies have offices near the port. A shuttle will take you to the pier. When you book just call the office where you are dropping off the car near the port and clarify they still have shuttle service. Enjoy your cruise.

Absolutely the best site. Check all the boxes for every credit card and club to see the best rates. Can always research, unchecking boxes.
Also most rentals are free cancelation so reserve if u see something good. Check often as rates change, then reserve again and cancel the previous reservation.
Definitely use leesburg and even clermont in addition to the villages as starting points, if possible.

We cruised from Rome to Ft. Lauderdale and rented a Hertz and returned it in Spanish Springs.

Here is what I do: I rent a car 1-way from here and drop it off at the Ft. Lauderdale airport. I usually go the day before and stay at a local hotel. I have the hotel pick me up at the airport just as if I flew in. Some hotels provide transport to the cruiseship terminal for a fee

Use Yankee Trails. They bus you to your terminal $99. pp from The Villages.
One way would/be cheaper. You meet on 441 by the Bealls store. Reliable!

Drive to the airport and cab it to the pier. It’s pretty close and your drop charges will be far less.

I'd consider the Cruise Express bus. They have more than one pickup point. We use the Sunoco gas station on 44 and 301. The bus is comfortable, has wifi and drops you off at your particular pier.

We are cruising out of Ft Lauderdale later this month and are renting a car with Avis in Leesburg. Dropping car off next day at the cruiseport and they provide shuttle service to the terminal.

My concern would be what happens if bus breaks down and you miss your cruise? That is why we always get there a day ahead of time.

I have taken Yankee Trails bus several times to Ft. Lauderdale and Miami Cruise terminals.
Very good and they drop you off right at your ship. Call them. I am using them again for a Christmas Cruise.
