Joe and I decided to replace our carpet after living here for five years. We called two companies, including Empire. Just wanted to let you all know how this turned out.

Company one gave us an estimate of $3,000+ for the 981 square feet in our home.

Empire came up with their special deal of buy one get two free with a quote of $13,000+ but discounting it came to $10,000+.

Thought this was something of interest to neighbors and friends here.

How can one company who says they beat all prices, come up so much higher than a local company?

Well, we went with company one of course and will have the floors installed this week.

Will definitely let everyone know how the installation goes.

Seems like that "discount" isn't really much of one is it... ;)

Mom in law had Empire replace carpeting in two rooms in her previous house here and though they did a fine job, there was difficulty when it was time to pay them. They wouldn't take a credit card, and if I remember correctly, didn't want a personal check, either. Did they mention anything to you about how payment should or could be made?

981 square feet at $3,000 installed? That's $27 a square yard
981 square feet at $13,000 installed? That's $119 a square yard.

There is obviously a mistake on somebody's part. Empire did our carpet and we paid the normal price.

Is it possible that they gave you a price for 981 square YARDS That would be $13 a square yard installed. More like empire's prices.

I wondered about that $13,000 quote too. Doesn't seem possible they could charge that much. Are you sure it wasn't supposed to say $1,300?
