Newbie question - Showed up at Brownwood last week at 5 to see Rocky and the Rollers - no seating and lots of overflow of people bringing their own chairs - Also noticed that Blonde Ambition and a Scooter the DJ will fill up all the seating. What other bands do you need to show up early at that square to ensure you get a seat?

Hooligans, Spazmatics, Johnny Wild, Greg Warren, Southbound, Slickwood and a few others. Basically, this time of year it's always crowded unless the band is just plain bad.

We like Slickwood and the Hooligans. Currently Hooligans not playing in TV due to long term contract with EPCOT.
Slickwood is a real good country/rock and roll band without electric guitars

We also like Stella Beat and Mpire along with others mentioned. You will find your own favorites and not like what we like. Enjoy.

Assume that you may need to bring your own chairs and perhaps sit outside the fence until April. It’s that time of year when our population doubles. Summertime, plenty of seating, and perhaps some rain.

we like 60s and 70s classic rock, so I would go with Rocky and the Rollers and Johnny Wild. What kind of music you like is the key. Scooter the DJ is fine to see, once. He does the same schtick every time.

Rocky and Johnny Wild are good bands but they both do too much 50 music for our taste. They draw very well so squares very crowded on their nights

Another band that packs squares is Bluestone Circle . I think that’s there name. They have a little girl singer who really gets people going. One of my favorites.

Do you think it might depend on what you like for entertainment?

It's the other way around. The Hooligans play British rock. The Spazmatics are the cooky 80's band.

Hooligans were at lake Sumter two nights ago as their 90s act, Anti Idol.
They were great even though I don’t like 90s grunge.
Their best iteration is Hooligans!

They are playing in November and December that I know of so far (as Hooligans) and in November as spazmatics
This weeks performance as anti idol was a trial run to see what villagers thought of their 90s grunge act.

Caught one of their sets the other night. They were great but about 50 people left when they played an 'Alice in Chains' song. Never in my life would I have thought that there would be an Alice in Chains song played in a square.

Aren't The Spazmatics the same band members as The Hooligans? I think I read that somewhere (probably on TOTV). LOL.

To answer your question, if the band is any good at all, take your your own chairs, go early, sit down, relax and enjoy the fun.

The Hooligans will be playing Nov. 18th and Yes The Hooligans and Spazmatics are the same except for the bassist and now they are starting to play a new lineup of music as Anti Idol

We were there for almost 4 hours and loved what they were playing. It was awesome to here music form the 90's and newer. They finished with Metallica's "enter sandman". Nice!!!
I get really tired of hearing the same old stuff being played over and over, just different bands. If I hear "mustang sally" ever again it will be too soon. lol
There's been a ton of great music made the in the last 30 years. Too many people think it's only good if it's pre 1980.
I'm hoping we get more bands playing the newer stuff. At least once in a while. Variety is a good thing.
All that said, music is very subjective. That's why there's so many genre's now.
