Yamaha Front Seat Adjustment Question

I have a 2016 Yamaha Gas cart that I bought used, and it already had a new custom front seat installed. The seat itself is fine, but the back rest of the seat is too far back. The previous owner tried to correct the problem by using temporary mesh back supports, but they are not very effective and it's a bad look.

Does anyone know how to move the seat back forward a bit, so that the reach to the pedals is shorter, and you can still open the seat bottom to get to the engine?

One option is to have a handyman remove that seat back (probably 4 bolts) and then reinstall it with spacers. The length of the spacers will be determined by how much forward will suit your needs.

This “mod” will probably require the use of longer bolts .

It’s really not a hard job to do .

My wife has the same problem (too short on one end). Two ways to solve it: get extenders for the accelerator and brake (Amazon) or go the far cheaper route and get a cushion for behind the driver's back. Both work, but Option 2 is far cheaper.

Thanks, Jarodrig & ThirdOfFive. My initial thought was to extend the seat bolts somehow, so I'm glad to see you suggest the same. I'm going to give that a try and if I can't get that to work, I'll try to find a better seat cushion set up. I already have an accelerator extender and it's still not comfortable to reach...

So, I finally had the opportunity to spend some time with my seat. The seat back has 4 threaded rods (bolts) that mount it against the metal supports. Initially the rods were all the way through the support and tightened down, with about 2 inches of bolt sticking out of the back of the support. So, I purchased 4 nuts and washers (the bolt is a ¼ 20 size), and I screwed the nuts ¾ of the way down the rod, so that there was just enough sticking through the support so that I could use the original nuts to tighten them down. That moved the seat back forward by 2+ inches, which was just enough for me and the wife to reach the controls better without the extra back support.

Problem solved, and it only cost me about $4 in nuts and washers.
