I bought a Gozney Roccbox pizza oven last week. First, I plan on using it outside on the pad after I find a table that can withstand the elements.
Was wondering is there a fire code that prohibits it used in the Lanai? It is well ventilated, and I have several friends who use alcohol table top fire pits in the Lanai, and that has an open flame. Just wondering......

Firepits don't get to 900°F. You want more than just well ventilated. Heat rises. If there's no chimney pushing that heat OUT of the top of the birdcage, it'll melt it.

When using it inside, Call the fire department and give them your address and the time you are planning on cooking, Just In case you are immobilized later from carbon monoxide

I tried to use my grill in my Lanai. Heat was never an issue, but the smoke lingered at the ceiling level. I eventually moved the grill to my garage and now roll it out into my driveway when I need it.

This us not a grill folks....One will always get advice from those with no experience, so skip the uninformed...
.OP not sure of your brand..but our small pizza oven puts out more heat on the bottom than the top... Pizza ovens cook so quickly they are usually in use for less than 30 minutes.
Its not a grill. So smoke is very minimal unless you don't turn every 39 seconds, then you get a very burnt throw away disk😂
Ours is in a pod coming soon. Will have no problem using on the lanai. Table is the biggest problem. Stainless with large salt blocks on top are my preferred method.

The answer depends if your lanai is screened or enclosed. The OP states 'well ventilated'. If this means screened, then yes you can operate the oven. If it means enclosed with a window open then no.

Has anyone ever heard of a gas/propane kitchen stove? We have had one for years and even when using two ovens plus stove top burners preparing holiday feasts we have never had a carbon monoxide issue or alarm activation despite not having an open window. The pizza oven in a well ventilated lanai should not be a carbon monoxide issue. The cautions concerning heat on the table top and ceiling should be considered but should be manageable issues.

A pizza oven is not an open-top stove. It is basically a narrow ceramic "cave" that's wide enough to slide a raw pizza in, and remove it with a pizza spatula. It's a kiln without a door. It is designed to rise to extremely high temperatures - up to 950°F. Compare to the average kitchen oven which doesn't even top 550 for self-cleaning and can't be set to 550 for anything else.
The heat will rise. It will rise at temperatures that can melt vinyl mesh, and PVC pipe, and anything made of plastic including plastic screws or even plastic bolt covers. It can, over time, degrade the integrity of metal mesh. It's meant to be used outdoors, without anything overhead impeding the heat to rise. Not even mesh.

THANK YOU!!! Yes there are a lot of posters who know nothing but hey...don't let that stop them. I have the Gozney Roccbox. I probably will use it outside just wondering if there was a fire code that prohibited it...and yes to the a$$wipes out there I could contact the FD. For that fact 99.999% of the questions or topics discussed here could be found elsewhere, so maybe just shut this site down huh????:ohdear:

When we purchased our house, the birdcage had a melted spot that perfectly matched up with the grill left behind by the previous owner.

This is a pizza oven....not a BBQ grill. There is a big difference.

if this were me, lol, i would try it outside 1st. i'd notice the heat surrounding the oven & what it puts off, then try to imagine if it were a good idea to use insidethe lanai. if you have no toxic fumes like gas or propane being shed, then notice exactly how HOT the table, ground or whatever stand you use gets. from here you could try to use cement blocks as a platform & just stay with the food until it's done, & you should be good to go.( i would hesitate to use it on the lanai 1st, in case you have to move the whole operation outside due to extreme heat.) best of luck-let us know how it goes?

Thank You! i may get one.
but notice how the oven is placed on what looks like a metal table, & appears to be outside by looking @ the white fence, & this warning from said site:
This oven is for outdoor use only.
Using a Koda 12 indoors is not safe.

I can't help you on cooking your pizza in your Lanai, but I will say this.
We been using our gas Weber grill this summer to cook frozen or unfrozen pizza.
It helps to keep the heat out of the house on hot days and cooking the pizza on low heat really works for us.
Cheers!

I researched pizza ovens for over a year. I chose the HALO Versa 16. This is a 16" pizza oven that makes 16" pizzas in under 2 minutes. It has a rotating stone and can be used most anywhere outside. I use mine in my Lanai all the time. I picked this oven because it does the larger 16"pizzas and the rotating stone makes pizza making much easier. It works with 1 lb propane and 20 lb bigger tanks. The motor that turns the stone works with batteries or plug in, so it is portable and great for tailgating, RV'ing or camping.
To answer the original posters question, the oven gets up to 1000 degrees......but that is inside. I can hold my arm above it with no issues and touch the top of it...it is warm but not burning.
You heat up the oven for like 10 minutes, and the pizza is done in 2-3 minutes. It does not stay on all day. The original poster does not say how high his lanai is, if he has vinyl siding or stucco, (you should never cook anything within a foot or two close to vinyl siding...)
A pizza oven IS different from a grill. For the record, my Lanai is over 11 foot high, very big, (like a Premier home), and I grill out there. I also have a nice griddle and smoker out there and my pizza oven. It is awesome. Never any issues.....
Anyone interested in this pizza oven, go to Quality Outdoor Cooking Equipment | Halo Products Group (http://www.halo-pg.com). I will try to post a picture of my pizza oven....sorry....cannot seem to post a simple picture here. Bummer

Why take a chance? If you insist, put a digital CO meter out there. It could save your life.
If there ever is any smoke created from cooking, burnt food or oil, that smell could linger for a long time. Using the grill often would build that smell. You may not notice it, but outsiders will. If you ever want to sell the house, getting that smell out is extremely difficult.
