With Circle K taking over the Marathon station in Lake Deaton Plaza, are there any gas stations within The Villages that sell ethanol free gas?

In which case the 7-11 at Powell and 44A most likely has it as well.

Do you have some reason to believe the non-ethanol pumps will be removed?

WAWA's have it as do many Circle K. The Circle K on 466A on the Lowes/Starbucks side def has it. Not sure of the "converted" Marathon to Circle K at the Pinellas side though.

WAWA on 441, golf cart accessible through the historic section, has ethanol free gas...and is way cheaper than TV golf cart stores. Good place to get a smoothie while you're there too.

What’s “way Cheaper”? $0.05 or $0.10 a gallon?
Golf carts take 5 gallons of gas, so max savings is $0.25 to $0.50 a fill up
About $10-15 a year.

Unless specially designed for Ethanol, rubber components will be “eaten” over time by Ethanol. Typically, lawn equipment, small power motors, outboard motors, etc. are not designed to ethanol specs. Golf cart motors would fall into that category. Now I may be wrong in that “newer” motors have been modified to accept ethanol without harm - so no foul if I’m wrong….

With a dollar a gallon difference it’s pay now or Maybe pay later. Been running for 9 years with no issue.

Regarding golf carts, read your owner's manual. Specifically, Yamahas since 2014, and almost certainly several years prior to that, are fine with up to 10% ethanol. I do, however, use ethanol free gas in my lawn equipment and pressure washer.

I fill up a 6 gallon tank once a month. I'll take the blue handle.

Not true the new store at Magnolia doesn't but the new 7-11 being built next door will. Also one of the stations on 466A near Winn Dixie does too

The key to ethanol in gas is 10% ethanol and has been for many years. I repaired mowers, tractors, chainsaws and even a few golf carts for years. In the late 70's and 80's some regional discount brands added up to 40% methanol to their fuels to make them cheaper. This high percentage of methanol not only ate some soft parts but in other cases ate through some cast aluminum alloys. Stihl chainsaw fuel tanks and Chevrolet Citation intake manifolds as well as some other GM models using the same manifolds come to mind. The perfectly round holes looked almost machined from one side but like a little crater from the other side. Some less expensive fuel lines in saws and small two cycle engines turned into a black ooze.

One of the manufacturers even sent out a kit with a graduated cylinder and a measuring cup to check percentage of methanol. You mixed the water with the gasoline and the water pulled out the methanol. The largest percentage I found was a little over 50%. Most were 35-40%.

Winter gasoline blends were commonly 10% alcohol based ethanol and caused little issue forever. The problem is that the suppliers began using methane based "ethanol" called methanol as a replacement and it caused some massive issues at the crazy percentages used at the time. Think of winter blend as the little can of dry gas you added to your tank up north way back when to make sure your fuel lines didn't freeze. If the little can of dry gas was unavailable we used 6 or 8 ounces of ethanol rubbing alcohol from the drug store.

To make the customer feel better ?

I’m on my THIRD golf gas golf cart , first being a 2003. All Yamaha.

Each and every owner manual state that the recommended fuel is “regular unleaded gas with no more than 10% ethanol”. Nowhere in these manuals do they mention “no ethanol fuel” .

Don’t believe me ? Check your own manual to confirm …..

Yes but almost all fuel systems designed over the past 20 years are designed to run on ethanol. Ethanol is not new and is the standard fuel in every state.

Another reason for ethanol free gas is that it burns better with more power than blended gas (even at just 10%).

I have a 2015 Yamaha cart that I bought new. I have used nothing but PREMIUM in it since day one. Except 2 times I filled up with ethanol free and couldn't tell any difference.

Ethanol free fuel has about 3% more energy per gallon than 10% ethanol fuel.

You might want to look into that; ethanol has less power than gasoline. While 10% ethanol doesn't cause a large difference in gas mileage (maybe not even noticeable), there is some.

(not sure what "blended gas" really is so the statement could be true)

You don't need premium fuel, typically 91-94 octane. Yamaha engines are relatively low compression and 87 octane regular fuel is fine. Preignition, one of the reasons to use premium, is not an issue with the Yamaha engines on regular fuel. Premium won't hurt it but there is no benefit from the higher octane. Regarding differences in the additive package between regular and premium, I don't know.

As of 4:00pm 10/22/2022, $4.89 at The Villages Golf Car, Lake Sumter Landing and $4.11 at WAWA, 441/27 Lady Lake near BJ’s. If my calculations are correct that’s $.78 a gallon at 5 gallons that’s $3.90. Times 12 fill ups, $46.80 a year.

I was there after 7 PM on Saturday and used the Rec Gas pump located in the NE corner. Noticed bags on the regular pumps closer to the building.

I stopped by today and filled up. One of the workers sitting outside said they planned to continue to sell it. Let's hope she knew what she was talking about.

Perhaps valid BUT, JUST like villagers, sellers know each other. We've seen posts about special HIGHER prices for Villagers. If, one seller gets more and sells as much, the others would be poor business people to charge less.

It is your DUTY to see that the guy with the lower price, BEST VALUE, sells more and thus makes more money.

Yes they have

Personal experience. I've not had a boat in years. When I did my outboard was like 1974 vintage and yes the alcohol added to the fuel did destroy gaskets.
They had kits to replace the gaskets, a fairly easy thing to do, and all was fine.

Far as golf carts Yamaha says 10% alcohol is fine. Our golf cart is 10 years old, it is fuel injected. We run on regular 89 octane fuel with alcohol added AND IT IS FINE.

Price and peach of mind using ethanol free gas beats the hell out of having your cart run like crap and paying a mechanic to clean out a gummed up fuel delivery system.

I've seen what ethanol does to a small carburetor and it ain't pretty. I throw some fuel injector cleaner in my car's tank every now and then to combat the ethanol.
